Check Teletype. I dunno if they're the cheapest but I know their stuff is reasonably priced and I've had no problems whatsoever with any of their products.
By being a diligent ebayer I was able to get 2 BT-55 mini gps units for about $50 each. The unit rocks, small as can be and runs 22 hrs between charges.
I've purchased a few items from www.semsons.com. They are really good, ship really quickly, and are very cheap. They have a few receivers for $59, and you don't have to spend the time to be a diligent ebayer. Their outlet store typically has the best deals.
Those Holux units really seem to have some problems! If I were buying on the cheap, I'd get the iTrek M5 or the iBlue from Semson's outlet . They're open box and right around $75. - sheureka
Sorry about the naieve question, but I see most of the BT GPS units out there have vent mounts or some kind of Dash mounted solution. Does it HAVE to have Satellite visibility? Or could the unit be placed in the trunk? I've googled this and can't seem to find an answer on it. I've got a 12V power plug in my trunk and I would prefer not to have yet another toy mounted on my dash. A phone, a highway transponder and a parking transponder is enough!
It doesn't have to have direct sat visibility (although it will get a signal much, much faster if it does), but I sure wouldn't put it in the trunk. It needs to be fairly close to your phone because of the BT and you need to look at it to see when it's picking up sats, etc. These things are very small, and I just toss mine into the little cubbyhole under the radio after it's gotten a signal. Most of the newer ones have very long battery life so you wouldn't actually have to plug it in all the time. - sheureka

The BT Range isn't THAT bad is it?!
I've got another good place for it then, in the back window. Then I can still run the power into the trunk, it'll be closer for BT range, it'll have better visibility AND no more toys on my front dash.
Now if they'd come out with a nice BT GPS and Radar Detector Combo...now that would be the cats meow!! (and I'd gladly put that on my dash)
these BT GPS mice are very small. About the size of two match boxes stacked ob top of each othother. I put a piece of vvelcro on top of my radar detector (as I have nnot yet hard wired that in and then put the GPS on top of the detector so the power cords can run alongside each other. my transponder isup behind my rear view mirror which would be a good place for the GPS unless you use it alot and need to frequently recharge it.
I just bought a 6700ppc and so far I am very impressed!
I am really into GPS but I am unsure what I need to buy to make my phone GPS ready without huge costs, I would only use it in the car, and I'm sure it would be a cradle of some kind.

You can get good software, a usable mount, and a BT receiver for around $150. You're the only one who can say whether that is a "huge" cost or not. Check out http://www.semsons.com/igbunpac.html and the forums at gpspassion.com for more ideas. - sheureka

Actually, my reasoning is a little different. I'd like to be able to say:
"No, Officer, that isn't a radar detector. It's my GPS unit! See my Tom Tom software?"
I live in an area where Radar Detectors are illegal to operate. They'll slap you with a hefty fine and confiscate it if you're caught.
