Question DSOD on my PC when 6700 is connected

Hello, I recently purchased the 6700 and I love it! From reading the forums, it appears that I may be in for a bumpy ride. I don't have patience for phones that are this expensive and don't work after just having it a few days. I had a Treo and took it back REAL quick when it kept rebooting on its own and when I tried to check my email. However, it seems it comes with the territory.

Anyways....my question.....twice now, my COMPUTER has given me the DSOD or BSOD (my preference) since I have had the 6700. Both times the 6700 was on the cradle charging. I'm assuming that is causing the problem. Is this common? Is there anything I can do? I need to charge the phone of course.

Thanks!

You wouldn't be hitting the power button on the 6700 while it's connected would you?

No, I'm just leaving the phone in the cradle to charge while I'm working on my PC. It comes on once in a while to resync on its own, but I can't say for sure that is exactly when I get the BSOD. It seems to be random. I may just sync the phone and get it out of the cradle. Then I'll just have the plug the charger directly into the phone and not use the cradle.

You really should read through the DSOD thread. I speculate that you have something installed on your card that needs to be in main memory.

We need to clarify the terminology. DSOD only happens on PPCs, because the error is that the screen locks in a "Dark" state. Hence, Dark Screen Of Death.

On Windows when there is a serious error the system halts and you get a blue error screen, or the Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD). There is no DSOD on a desktop computer.

She's getting a BSOD on her computer, not a DSOD on her PPC. (acronym heavy much?) This is not an issue with the 6700 at all, but a problem with Windows.

Are you running XP SP2?

Most likely it's a windows networking issue, but I've never had this kind of trouble myself. Do you have the latest ActiveSync? (4.2)

Thanks for the clarification on the BSOD. Yes, blue screen of death on my pc.

Yes, I am running Windows XP (Pro) SP 2 and have updated to the ActiveSync 4.2.
