anyway to use stereo bluetooth headphones with original ROM??
Hi,
I'm really confused about how A2DP relates to the ROM of these devices. I hear there are "hacks" for enabling it on the one hand and I hear some hacks require the new ROM and yet again I hear the new ROM enables A2DP.. and thanks to the fact that this site is lamentably a forum and nothing more, actually finding a simple, solid answer is nearly impossible. Please understand that I have been searching these forums for literally hours.
So please, someone tell me: is there *any* way to play music over stereo bluetooth headphones from an XV6700 using the original (1.05, I think) ROM? If so, what do I have to do? Do I really need A2DP? What do I lose if I don't have it, the mere possibility of connecting to a set of BT headphones, or just some extra features?
Whatever the answer, I have no intention of upgrading the ROM as it's taken months and countless now-forgotten registry hacks to get this thing into a state I'm happy with -- I just want to know what my options are that being the case.
Thanks, and sorry if I sound frustrated, but a forum is really no way to organize crucial information like this. The guys at MacRumors have started a wiki to complement their forum; I think something like that could be really, really useful here and might cut down on the number of people asking repeated questions. There are only so many 24 page threads you can expect people to read in their entirety before it becomes unreasonable.
I don't believe there is a way to install and use A2DP (and thus, stereo sound) without the updated Verizon ROM. Like you, I am not planning to upgrade my device because I've gotten it exactly how I want it. A2DP would be sweet - but I never use my phone for playing music, so I can live without it.
Just for kicks, I tried pairing my phone with my Logitech BT Headphones for iPod - what happens is the phone will detect the headphones, but then you will be unable to select any Profile to use with them, and thus they will be useless.

A2DP does not come with any 6700 regardless of the ROM version. It is an unsupported addon that requires you have the AKU2 / MSFP ROM update in order for it to work so you cannot use it with the old ROM like you have. The only thing it adds is the ability for you to listen to music wirelessly in stereo with a pair of A2DP headphones. The only other possibility which I have no idea if it will work or not is the sofware discussed in this thread:
