Thumbs up Review: Seidio Super Slim Crystal Case

Got it today. And wow I love it!

First of all, the pics:
Crystal Case on its own:

Front view with phone in:

Back view, OEM battery:

Back view, Seidio extended battery:

Side views:

Top and bottom views:

Case with keyboard open:

Case inside the Seidio Leather Case (details below):

Ok, and on with the review:

Putting it on:
So easy! It just snaps onto the front and back of the phone. Took me about 5 seconds.

Taking it off:
Almost as easy. It takes some getting used to, but now I can instantly take it off my phone in seconds.

It seems like it will be perfect for keeping the phone largely free of blemishes. It covers all of the important areas while keeping the screen, charging and headphone ports, SD slot, camera, speakerphone, and all buttons open for use.

The best part (for me at least):
It actually locks your battery cover into place! Whether using the OEM or Extended battery cover, sometimes when taking the phone out of my pocket the battery cover would slip off, and it was so annoying. But the case covers the bottom of the battery cover and keeps the battery cover from accidentally sliding out. So while it doesn't cover the battery cover, your battery will never go flying out.

The only cons to this case:
It will not fit in the OEM cradle. You must either take your phone out of the crystal case or plug the charger directly into the USB port to charge.
It also does not exactly fit into the Seidio Leather Case with the extended battery. It mostly fits. I would feel comfortable using it, but the latch does not close as securely as it normally does. But then again, I'm not exactly finding myself upside down or even sideways wearing a belt holster, so it'll work fine for me.
The Lion/Mugen extended battery cover will not work with this case. It is slightly too large. The Lion Battery + Seidio battery cover do work just fine with it though.

Aside from that, I absolutely love it. I've been carrying it around in my pocket running errands, and have no complaints at all. It is hardly noticable.

Some people asked how easy it would pop off or scratch. Well, I'm not going to drop it onto pavement to find out But I did drop it onto non-padded hard carpet from a height of about 3 feet, 3 times, and it never so much as budged. Once the keyboard slid open a fraction, and my stylus flew out, but the crystal case didn't budge anywhere on the 6700. I don't think it would provide a lot of shock aborption, but it is definitely going to keep it from getting messed up.

This, and a good screen protector are all you need to keep your 6700 safe. I love it!

You can find it on the Seidio website: Here.
Or bundled with their InnoDock Here.

And it does fit in the InnoDock while in the Crystal Case.

EDIT: Added links to the product. Guess that's a good idea

Question: Do you still have the fake leather OEM case the 6700 came with? I actually really like that case even after buying others because its so thin. Does the Crystal case enclosed 6700 fit in it? This might have jsut been a verizon case, but I hope not.

I do have the original holster my Sprint PPC6700 came with, and it fits just fine.

I'm unsure if the Verizon one is any different, unfortunately

If you look closely at the pics you can see that it has little pieces of plastic that slip underneith the edges of the phone. If you look very closely at the sideviews you'll see where they clip on.

Nope, not at all that I've noticed. Not scary, cool! The top part clips on along the top and bottom of the phone, if you look at your phone you'll see there's a little space there for the clip to fit.

Rennyn,

GREAT review, I'm glad I ordered mine. I guess I'll have to order the Seidio 2400 battery. I have the Lion, but its not fitting any of my cases.

The Seidio 2400 is awesome. You can also order a cover and use it with your Lion battery, its a tight fit, but it works

Very nice design...but why isn't there at least an OPTION for a clip. If they had a screw mount in the case you could use the clip or take off the mount and have no clip. The way they've designed it is absolutely useless to me as I need a clip. I don't want to fork out even more money for a pouch case on top of this...this is very frustrating trying to find a quality case for use with the extended battery.

I'd be worried about putting a belt clip directly on the case, since I'm not sure the back crystal piece is enough to support the whole phone on your belt throughout the day...

Thanks for the review and excellent pics rennyn. Cheers!

Wow, I really like the crystal case form factor, and that the case locks the battery cover in place. Anyway, just looking at the crystal case pics, there's no way I'd trust it to support a belt clip. Also, still wish Seidio would make an extended battery specific crystal case that actually protects the battery cover. Regardless, the minimalist design looks great. Thanks Seidio!

Best to all,
R

I mostly keep my phone in my pocket. This case looks great for its thin profile, but looking at it, I'm sure it would get dust trapped inside of it in no time.

I haven't had long enough to speak for any dust (none so far, even after being in and out of my pocket all day). But even if it is, the case takes all of 10 seconds to take off and put back on, cleaning isn't an issue at all.

Great Review...but Garsh Darn It !!!

I just ordered the and received my Seidio 2400 battery and I went ahead and got the new leather case with it. I've been out of town and just getting caught up on the boards. So I missed all the news on the Crystal case being available.

I may just have to order the crystal case and leather case combo when it comes out....... If the price is right.

pretty much agree on the review here. got my case in yesterday and its nice. now i dont have to worry about scratching it when its not in the OEM case.. i can just throw this thing in my bag and go. its what the aluminum case strives to be..
