Question Store Contacts, SMS, and Call History On SD Card ??

Does anybody know if it is possible to store your Contacts, SMS messages, and/or Call History to the SD Card?

I keep all my installation files on the SD card and occasionally I like to Hard Reset in order to keep a fresh and fast running Pocket PC. It would be nice to be able to Hard Reset away from home instead of having to sync to the computer to get my contacts back. Plus I still lose my Call History and SMS messages since it doesnt seem to back those up through syncing.

I haven't figured out how to do sms messages, but I have figured out call history, contacts and calendar. All you have to do is go to File Explorer and go to root of device. There, you will see PIM. That contains all of those items. If anyone figures out SMS, let us know.

P.S. When you want to ever restore these items, just go back to file explorer and to the root of the device. Rename the brand new empty pim file, then paste your old pim file and soft reset. When it comes back up, your calendar, call history, and contacts will be there.

Thumbs up

DAMN!! Thats awesome. Seeing that I keep all my .cab files in an Installation Folder on my SD card that would make it very easy for me to just copy the PIM file to the SD card and then do a hard-reset while on the road. After the phone is finished I could just drag the file back over and have my important data back.

So now we can easily restore the Calander, Call History, and Contacts without syncing!!

I think the other things we need now is SMS and IE Favorites.

I will also look into the SPB backup application but it would be much nicer to just have to copy a few files over instead of paying to register an app and having another app use up some space since I store all my .cab installs already and that can use up some room.

At any rate, thanks for the information ... much appreciated.

Not a problem, I think that's a great way to do it.

I thought i read somewhere that the .pim file had to be at the Windows Level in File Explorer in the main memory. Are you saying you guys moved your .pim file to your memory card and calendar, contacts, etc. are working fine?

Um, no. This is just to back them up. You only want to make a copy of the file. I don't even think it will let you move it completely.
