how do I disable data connection popups dialogs??

Hi Everyone,

I just switched over from blackberry 8700c to Sprint PPC6700 and have 2 quick questions. I've done my best to search through these forums for the answers I need but couldn't find them, so moderators, please dont kill me if this is indeed somewhere

1. As I've realized with EVDO/CDMA is that if I am using the data connection and I get a call, the data connection is lost (this I understand), but I HATE having that annoying Windows (version Mobile 5) popup telling me, "Cannot connect, please end the current phone call and try again". Does anyone know how I can permanently disable this message popup? I know there is a dismiss button, but my data programs (like verichat, IM+, etc) keep trying to reconnect me (like they should) so the message pops up continually. Is there a registry hack somewhere for this? I WANT to keep my IM clients to continually poll the server so that when my call ends, they can reconnect without my intervention.

2. My second question which ties into the first is: how can I again disable the popup that says "Connecting to: Sptint PCS Vision, dialing #777, etc" every time I or my phone initiates a data connection? Again a registry hack would be nice.

Thanks for all your help!

Welcome rxb216,

You should be able to stop all those notifications without a reg hack. Just go into Settings, Sounds & Notifications, Notifications Tab, then click on each Event and set it to whatever you would like...

For future reference, please consider using search function instead of starting a new thread on an old topic.

Best to all,
R

part of problem solved

rhacy,

I did as you suggested and this solves my second question, thanks. BUT I STILL get the issues as described in my point 1. The phone still continues to give me "Cannot connect, please end the current phone call and try again" whenever I make/receive a call while data connection is alive. I went into the notification settings and made sure that the notification popup for "connection disconnected" was disabled, but I STILL get the popup.

By the way, if you know this answer was posted somwhere else, please let me know the link, the search function on this forum doesn't always yield the best results.

I appreciate any suggestions on this one remaining issue...

Thanks

rxb216,

Not sure what's causing that notification to overide your selected settings. When my data connection's active and call comes through, the data connection pauses and resumes once the call has ended without the pop up notification. Guess what I'm getting at is that unchecking the "connection connected and disconnected" notification settings seems to do the trick here. Also if I'm on a call and a program tried to start a data connection, it does not give the disconnected notification or any other pop up for that matter. Maybe try a soft reset and see if the notifications still do the same thing.

Also, you may want to check and see if there's any way to disable specific settings and notifications within your IM+ or Verichat directly. It may be an issue more specific to those apps.. That said, it sounds like you have your 6700 set up to allow calls to ring through with an active data connection as well as the 2.06 ROM update, correct?

Best to all,
R

rom upgrade will screw me

rhacy,

For obvious reasons posted on http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-6...-4-1-06-a.html

I have no plans to upgrade my ROM to 2.06 and will stay at 1.03 since I need my phone to ring through while using my data connection. The upgrade to 2.06 will prevent me from receiving calls if my data connection is live (which it is often) according to what I read.

I'm not sure if ROM 2.06 will solve my pop up issues, but it might. However for now I need to see if Sprint will address this ring thorugh issue as its pissed off many many people. I myself am not sure if i should stick with EVDO/CDMA after reading the above post.
