The call comes in, but the phone app takes control.

It should be the same for all software, the phone app is always supposed to suspend other software and take control when a call comes in.

I know the call will suspend the GPS when using Ostia (Pharos GPS) as well.

my Pharos does not suspend on mine I just will not get voice directions when using Pharos but works fine when I am on the phone.

Both my TomTom and Iguidance just displays a small icon of a speaker with a line draw thru it symbolizing that the sound is off

but all of my GPS programs work just fine when I am own the phone you just will not get the voice direction there is not a slowdown or strange behavior nothing change other then no sound, and will you get off the phone the voice direction are back.

using the Holux 236 bluetooth/w sprint 6700

Talking I have TT 5.21 and GlobalSat 359 and it works good

While driving, the GPS sound goes off and the screen momentarily flips to the phone. Once I have been in the call for a few seconds, TT flips back on so I can resume my travels. Once done, when the caller hangs up, the screen just flickers slightly on the hangup and the speaker for TT comes back on.

IF I am driving and I want to make a call, I just push the phone button and the screen flips to the dialer. I dial my call, it mutes TT and again flips back to TT in a couple of seconds.

I love it and it works so good that 4 other people have gotten the same setup.

You need to get the BT ear piece hack, there you would never have to touch your phone, just tap you head set, it will beep then say the persons name you want to call.
