Screen is impossible to see in the sun - any suggestions??
I just got this phone, and love it! (except that I can't see the screen in the sun). I have the backlight all the way up, and still can't see anything. I need to see this outside! I was wondering if I bought a screen protector, would that allow me to see more of the screen when I'm in the sunlight? Has anyone noticed a big difference with theirs?
I have a screen protector on mine and still have trouble seeing the screen in any kind of outdoor daylight worse in a sunny environment. It seems that the best view for the screen is when its indoors or in a shaddy part of your car.
Actually ippy, on my Axim X50v, I can see the screen very well in the sun. The colors washout, but I can read text. My main problem was that my motorcycle broke down, and I needed to make a phone call, but for the life of me I couldn't see the screen to dial the number. I was thinking someone else might have had the same problem and/or noticed a difference when using a particular screen protector. I'd hate to buy lets say the antiglare one, if it really doesn't make a difference in the sunlight, over the crystal one.
How do you have it to turn off? i used SETTINGS>BUTTONS> then went to button 4 and assigned VjayLumos.. but it only turns it on.. cant turn it off
I actually have VJLumosII assigned to Button 4 (press & hold) to turn it on and VJLumosII OFF, which is located in the same folder as VJLumosII, assigned to Button 4 to bring it back to normal brightness.
So I've used the Boxware glare screen protector for years and while it's not going to let you see the screen in direct light it does help quite a bit. On some screens the color contrast is good enough to see, but usually the text is simply too small to see.

Agreed. I have been using the PPCTechs AG protectors for a few months, and I am so glad I bought them.
Hold the PDA at a slight angle so the sunlight isn't bouncing off the screen into your eyes, and you'll be able to see it. The 6700 has a transreflective display, but it's not as good as the one on the old Sharp Zaurus, for example (it was great for outside use - the display was even front-lit). The 6700 isn't as easy to see in sunlight, but if you hold it right it works better than most other PDAs which wash out *completely*. Some screen protectors would probably actually hinder the ability to do this.

Sorry but this is one of the silliest things ive heard in a long time. Is it too much to use your hand to shade the screen?
The only device Ive ever owned that I could see in the sun was a treo. The 600 was good, the 650 was great and the Treo 700p was unbelievable. I could read and flip through programs comfortably in direct sun........ To bad the device suc#ed.
I am using ThemeGenCE to change things here and there. WM5 is kind of tricky with the top and bottom bar colors. I've read alot on it but it seems to have a mind of its own with those areas of the screen.
While I really like alot of the themes I've seen out there with great colors and graphics ... after I got this one tweaked for viewing I never went back to them.
