Stock quotes on Today screen?

I've seen all these little plugins you guys use which give what I assume is an automatically-updated weather forecast for the next few days right on your today screen.

Anything like that for stocks? That would poll refresh once in a while when you're connnected to the internet and display the price of one or more stocks you want to keep an eye on?

That would be cool.

I use stock quotes for Pocket PC. It cost me 19.95 and they are quotes from yahoo. They are streaming if you want. You have a choice of yahoo delayed or real time ECN which is what I use since it's the closest thing to real time. You can try it before you buy it.

Very cool! The stock chart on their main page looks sharp, and the alerts and news are helpful. I may try this, but I was hoping to see the price on the today screen...I didn't see anything on their site about a Today screen plugin, so I'm guessing there's not one?

Does it connect to the internet automatically to download the quotes to you? Or do you run the program, then turn on your internet? And how big a battery drain is it if, say, you kept it running in the background all day?

Thanks!

Nothing that I have seen on the today screen. It does automatically connect to the internet and when you turn it on, it asks how many seconds before another refresh and what type of quotes you want. Then it can stay on all day and refresh itself. I only use it when I am away from my computer. I have not kept it on all day. I assume it could drain since it can refresh every second if you want up to hours. I keep a spare battery with me all the time.

Thanks for the info! I'll try it out.

If anyone knows of a Today screen plugin, too, I'd still be interested in that.

I have a stock tracking program with a Today plug-in. It's called Tiny Stocks Stock Manager.

www.TinyStocks.com

You won't get realtime quotes on your Today screen but it does show alerts (which you can preset) there. You can check for stock updates manually via EVDO or automatically when you ActiveSync.

I used to run a previous version on my HP Jornada at least 10 years ago. When I emailed and asked them about an upgrade for my PPC, they said it would be free. So the price was right. And it's more than adequate for my once-a-day portfolio-reviewing needs.

Getting closer...I'd still love to actually see the price and maybe a few other features directly on Today, but this is another good item for me to look into. Thanks for the description, I'll check it out.

I think you want journal bar by omega one. I don't remember if it shows the prices or percent change in a day, but it does handily show a bunch of different stocks. I think it is udated through yahoo. I downloaded the trial. Didn't put too much time into it, but i couldn't get the stocks to work. Let me know what you find. Oh, one last thing, it slowed my ppc pretty badly. I think because the demo included batt pack pro and I am already running wisbar2. See if you have the same problem.
