Recommend Bluetooth headset that can block background noises + review Plantronics 645

Can someone recommend a bluetooth headset that
1) CAN BLOCK BACKGROUND NOISES
2) Clear conversation on both ends.
3) Long distant range from phone to BT headset.

Those are the 3 features I am looking for.

This is my first phone with bluetooth technology. So I read and read about the bluetooth headsets and decided to buy a Plantronics Discovery 645, (refer as PD645 from now on) with the latest DSP technology that's suppose to block out background noises. I have to say that DSP is crap.

I've conducted the following tests:
1) Talking on PD645 with a fan blowing towards me with medium wind (distance is about 3 inches).
Result: Major loud wind static, on both ends (I can hear it and the other person can hear it).

2) Music turned on from my Logitech z2200 speakers at the level that I usually listen to. Compare with conversation through (a) PD645, (b) Speaker phone and (c) the handset itself.
Result: Talking on PD645 tends to have the loudest background noise, even more so than the speakerphone! That's crazy ! Of course the winner of this test was talking on the handset itself (least background noise).

3) See how far I can take my PD645 from the PPC6700.
Result: I get statics with just about 5 feet!! If you keep going it's be dead by the time you reach 10 feet. But it's weird how it gets statics with 5 feet range (no obstacle between phone and PD645), it becomes clear when I am about 15 feet away a wall is between the phone and PD645.

Overall, very unsatisfied. This being my first BT headset, and cost a lot of money, it sucks very very much.

But on the plus side, it is VERY comfortable and lightweight. Works great in quiet environment in terms of sound quality. It is also very loud to me. But the negatives definitely outweights the positives.

So hopefully someone can give me some suggests on the 3 features I am looking for above.

I have owned the moto h700 and it was crap. used it on a moto e815, lg vx9800 and the ppc6700. I get nothing but static with the phone attached to my hip. I had swapped it out 3 times before i decided to return it. Do your self a favor and stay away from any of the motorola's. However my brother just picked up a Jabra bt800 and says that it is the best headset that he has ever used, hes currently using it on a xv6700.

Interesting. I tried a Jabra BT800 and hated it. The DSP was probably O.K. I really didn't keep it long enough to find out via testing. The inbound volume was too low even after their software update and I didn't want to find any reasons to like it (like good DSP) as it was going back.

In short, I think DSP is not yet ready for prime time. Hopefully in the future.

For now, I have the old, ugly Plantronics M3000 (aka electronic cockroach). It's huge, but its loud and reproducibly works for me. I just bought the Plantronics Disco 640 and it seems O.K. as well.

My callers will just have to deal with background noise until DSP gets real.

I have tried and tested approximately 10 different Bluetooth headsets. My criteria were very similar to yours. In addition to the ones you mentioned, I also wanted one that was very loud. By far the best that I have used, and still use on a daily basis, is the Plantronics 510. It is not the most beautiful thing, and I would say only average in comfort. But it meets all of your criteria and is also loud enough for me to hear the caller even in my convertible which has a lot of background noise even with the top.

I have the Logitech Mobile Traveller that is now in storage. It excellently reduces background noise, but depending on your voice, it may filter that out as well. It works better for loud/deep voices.

Wow such different opinion on the H700... probably not going to get that.

atsitalian: I read the Plantronics 510 reviews and it certainly seems like a great BT headset, but man do I hate the design. It makes people looks like they are hearing impaired.

ctrl-alt-del: I considered that but I heard it is super uncomfortable on the ear.

I am looking into the logitech mobile freedom, which seems to have pretty good reviews as well. Also their WindStop technology to enables clear conversations. What do you guys think?

Wife and i both have the 6700 and H700. I like it, but it's loose on the ear. Wife doesn't like it too much. Didn't know it had noise cancellation capability. Not sure I've noticed it. It's definitely not like the bose headsets in capability.

The Plantronics 510 may make you LOOK hearing impaired, but all the other popular BT headsets make you FEEL hearing impaired with the 6700. I tried a bunch, the 510 with Windstopper is surprisingly good (and a comparitive bargin).
