Fixed my totally bricked phone
After a recent trip with some possible rough baggage handling of my briefcase with my phone it it, the phone was totally dead, non responsive with the right LED going red when plugged into a charger. I tried hard and soft resets, leaving the batt. out, etc, nothing worked. Figureing i had nothing to loose, i took it partially apart. When i reassembled it it started working OK. The only thing i can think that may have fixed is is that i saw a tiny battery mounted on the motherboard. I could not remove it so i shorted it out with a paper clip.
When the phone restarted, all my data was intact except I noticed the date/time were way off and the front panel keys, which had been defective since a wet mountain bike ride last month are now working perfectly. I also noticed that the system is working WAY faster than before, even though i had been doing soft restarts ever few days.
Time will tell if it stays working but at least i can quit seaching Ebay for a replacement(for now)
P.S. In reassembly i have one part left over, a small squarish rubber piece (approx 2x3x3 mm) Any one know where this comes from
