Network time sync not working when switching time zones

I downloaded the new update which was supposed to sync the time to your present time zone. I took a trip yesterday from EST to CST and the device never changed the time. There is a screen which gives you a botton to push to sync time which also didnt work.

Anybody seeing this?

You're better off not using network time sync anyway, since it wakes up the device resulting in less battery life.

I agree with "tonydiv" that you're better off not using it, but if you want to, you need to turn it on for it to work...
Phone --> Menu --> Options --> Services tab --> Time Synchronization --> Get Settings... check the box and hit "update now".

yeah, I saw that too when I travled with the 6700, it would not update the time when I went to a new city.. it sucks. I'm not sure what you are talking about draining the battery checking time? It should be on the sprint network checking time after the phone resets. I know the treo only checked time after a reset or when I turned the wireless back on to connect to the sprint network.

So WM5 does not do this?

I found that the Time Sych being on/enabled caused DSOD with the new ROM. Started immediately after updating. Turned it off and haven't had one DSOD since.

I also found it didn't switch time zones automatically when I traveled - first cell phone I've owned that didn't always have the correct local time.

What I now do, which works great for me but is manual, is go to

Settings -> System Tab -> Clock & Alarms -> Time Tab.

Here you can select Home or Visiting time zone.

This will also adjust your calendar appointments to the time zone you select so everything is in local time. Some people don't like this and prefer their appointments to remain in Home time; I prefer that my alarms/reminders come up at the correct local time, which this accomplishes.

The Treo 700W would automatically adjust to local time.
