This works, is easy and should have a thread that is easily identifiable. Thanks to Marty for posting this in April 2006.
Bluetooth on PPC-6700
**WARNING** Extremely Long Post, but definately worth reading.***
Ok, so I have been reading threads for the last 5 days trying to figure this out how to activate my M$ Voice Command from a bluetooth headset. What I had found is that out of the box, the PPC-6700 does not come with an application that is needed in order to properly be able to hack the registry. The registry hack that everyone had been seeing floating around wouldn't work because the program "Voice Speed Dial" hadn't been installed on the phone. Well, I recently updated the firmware on my phone and low-and-behold what program was installed with the new firmware? You guessed it, the new firmware installs both "Voice Speed Dial", as well as Smart Dialer.
So here are the steps needed to be able to activate Voice Command from your bluetooth headset.
First Step, which is one that I think everyone (on sprint) needs to do anyway is to update your firmware on the phone. If you don't feel comfortable doing this, then take your phone to Sprint and they will do it for you. You can find the firmware by following these steps;
1.) Logon to sprint:
https://manage.sprintpcs.com/Manage/...t/p/.scr/Login
2.) Go to "Phone Details"
3.) Go to "Software Download"
4.) Select "Windows CE" as your OS
5.) Pick the first link, which should be the upgrade application.
Now, the only issue with doing this is that you are resetting your device back to factory defaults. You will need to re-install Microsoft voice command, and any other programs that you had installed and want back. This also fixes quite a few bugs that the OS had. I saw some pretty instant differences when I installed mine. The total time it takes to do this is about 20 minutes (not including installing all the software you had on it, and going through and setting up your phone).
Install MS Voice Command
Ok, you have updated your firmware and you have installed MS Voice Command. The next step is to install a registry editor, my choice would be PHM Registry Editor:
http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities...ryeditor.shtml . Just Sync up to your PPC and drop this file somewhere in your "My Documents". An even smarter thing to do would be to create a folder on your storage card called "My Cabs" and save all cab files there in case you run into problems and need to reinstall. This makes it easy to find them (Just a suggestion).
Now navigate to this .cab and click it to install the registry editor.
Once the registry editor is in place you need to do the following;
Open up your newly installed registry entry program from your "Programs" menu.
Then goto "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand\Path".
Change the default value from "\Windows\SDDialer.exe" to "\Program Files\Voice Command\VoiceCMD.exe".
Now you should be able to activate Micrsoft Voice Command by pressing the connect button on your bluetooth headset.
Once that is done, you should now be able to activate Voice Command from your bluetooth headset.
My hat's off to all the actual individuals who did the research to find these registry keys, and all the posts that lead me to my final result.
