Can't Setup syncing with Outlook on my 6700

Please forgive me if this has been addressed before, but I've done "Outlook/PPC6700" searches and can't find anything relevant. I cannot find relevant info in the manual that came with the phone. I looked at my provider's site (Alltel) to see if they had a FAQ. Nothing. I've tried Google searches. Nada.

When I originally installed the software on my computer, I got a message that it would not install Outlook because my computer already had a newer version (weird, because I've had Office XP for about three years and the phone is only three days old). I figured it would just synch up (with my already installed version) the first time I did a synch. Didn't happen.

So, from the phone's installation CD, I did another install of that version of Outlook. It still doesn't synch.

I am wondering if I am running into this problem because I do NOT want do download e-mail to my PDAPhone. I want to use Outlook for the contacts, calendar and tasks functions---not e-mail. Outlook is not my default e-mail program. I do get a message that e-mail can't download when I synch, but that's okay!

I am really resisting setting up Outlook as my default e-mail program because I have about 4,000 e-mails in Outlook Express. I just don't want the hassle of switching over, and I certainly don't want them all on my PDA!

Is there a discussion anywhere that addresses Outlook that will be relevant to my issues?

Thanks. Please don't eat me alive if I've missed a discussion of this in my searches of the site.

Go to the active sync program and delete your mobile device. Then just reconnect your device via usb. That should solve your problem.. It solved mine. Hope it works
