can't make outgoing calls, 3 beeps and then disconnect
ok, i have had my ppc 6700 since january. this has happened on and off from the very begining.
when i go to make a call, i go to contacts, select person, hit green phone key, the phone screen comes up showing number agian, i hit green phone key agian , the phone says dialing, i put it up to my ear to await the connection, i hear three beeps and then nothing. i look back at the phone and it says "last call" and shows the number. today this has happened like 4 times.
has anyone figured tthis one out. i searched for over an hour and have been reading these threads almost everday since january. i dont remember seeing anything but i can't belive i'm the only one.
i have done a hard reset yesterday and have NO extra apps installed. i have new rom with junkware removed. no reg hacks.
please post back with how often this happens to you, what signal strength you have when this happens, evdo or 1x, anything you can to help me figure this out. unless you have the complete fix to the problem, if so thats all i need. lol
Are you perhaps roaming when this happens? Also look at the screen while it is happening. Does it ever say connected, or does it go straight from dialing to call ended? Did you ever have the old ROM? Did you ever get this problem with the old ROM? Does this only happen in a certain area? Perhaps the problem is related to a certain tower in your area. Next time this occurs, on the keypad type ##33284#. Tell us what the SID value is.
It's ActiveSync trying to initiate a data connection. I suppose you are using the new ROM, correct? Well, this seems to be a major but in the update, as ActiveSync interrups your outgoing calls. It takes me 2-3 times to place a call, everytime. Highly, highly annoying.
Microsoft, please fix this ridiculous bug. This is a business tool, not a toy.

not roming. i havent looked at the screen other than to verify that it is dialing. i did use the old rom and do remember this as well from the very beginning. this happens to me in a few different areas. mainly in 1x areas, but i'm not for sure that it is JUST in 1x areas.

i do have activesync set up and push email active. i use 4smartphone. i do remember this though on the old rom as well, before push email and 4smartphone. altho it may have been before the activesync disable trick.
does your activesync theory mean it is activesync tring to initiate a data connection in a 1x area or does it do it in evdo areas as well?
SAme things happens to me. If you set activesync on a 'timed' schedule then it wont happen. i have got a trouble ticket at sprint and microsoft both. Microsoft states they are aware of this and working on a fix.
setting activesync to every four hours worked for a few days. altho it has come back. today it happened again. man I wish I could get this figured out. is this an activesync issue that anyone with push email will experience or is it activesync with 4smatyphone thing?
me too.. 1x area using direct push and 4smartphone on the Sprint network. scheduled active sync for every 30 minutes and problem dissapears. I really like direct push but I need the phone ability more. Hope they fix this soon, EVDO is not coming to my area anytime soon.
Same thing here as well. I sometimes have to try to connect three times before it dails completely. I am using direct push with my company's exchange server.
Our organization has several of these phones. We have updated 2 to the new ROM, and setup push exchange sync. Post update, both phones have the same issue described here. Verizon's data support were not aware of the issue. Very irritating! I will continue to attempt to track down a fix with MS, UTStarcom, and Verizon.
this is very disappointing. just bought a year subscription to 4smartphone and now I can't use direct push.
you still have synced contacts, calendar, task. what I'm doing is switching back and forth. if I'm waiting for emails and/or not needing the phone to work perfect, I enable push. if I'm not expecting any emails and want my phone to work right I set it timed.
I have experienced this behavoir pre- and post- ROM upgrade; but it seems to be more prevalant with the upgrade. I do, shrug my shoulders and just press the TALK key again. However, my recent 6700 converts are less than impressed with this quirk. I heard once it was a SPRINT network issue, but I don't think that is true. I think I only get one beep. It happens from voice dail, keyboard dial, and my Acura Bluetooth connection dail--so it must be something with the dialing. I have hardreset several times, no chnage so I'm not going to try that again until there is some definative data on the subject. Please keep us all up-to-date on this issue.
I never got it before the ROM update, and now get it fairly often when I'm in a 1x area. Due to this issue, I've decided not to roll out the ROM update to our 20+ 6700 users at this time.
we have three xv6700's in our organization and were so frustrated we were about to take them back and exchange up to treo 700w. two issues:
1. dial at least twice during business day on every call before it takes
2. often the voice dial will just suddenly appear (before or after a call) -- no buttons pushed, it just appears
two questions:
1. if Microsoft issues a fix, will we have to wait for another ROM update, or will it be a cab we can install?
