unable to add certificate to root store on 6700

Greetings,

I am trying to test ssl connectivity with a new Verizon xv6700 running the most recent ROM update. I have had no success installing a certificate into the root store. If I created the _setup.xml file and try to install it through a .cab file, I get:

"the installation of abc.cab was unsuccessful"

If I copy the .cer file over to the system and execute it directly, I get:

"cannot access certificate"

I plan to implement a commercial certificate when we roll this out to production but I need to use a trial cert for testing purposes. I finally broke down and got to level 2 utstarcom support and their only answer was "you have to buy a cert, you cannot install your own". It seems I have read about many posters in this forum who have successfully installed their own certs into the root store.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions / answers on what steps I am missing?

Thanks.

Is THIS the site you're referencing??

Be careful when creating the XML file. Notice there is a section called "characteristic type". This is where you need to enter the Thumbprint of the cert. If you don't mind, post the link to the cert, and I'll format the XML for you.

VeriSign Test Root CA cert.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give. Yes, that msdn blog is the one I used as a reference to create my CAB file. The following is the VeriSign Test Root CA. (lines may break). On my 6700, it looks like there are not any VeriSign root certs in the store by default. if this is the case, I will have to consider a Thawte or one of the others. Do you happen to know if VeriSign is included in the OS under a different name?

You need to include the thumbprint, but it would look like this:

Code:
<wap-provisioningdoc>
 <characteristic type="CertificateStore">
  <characteristic type="ROOT" >
   <characteristic type="!!THUMBPRINTHERE!!">
    <parm name="EncodedCertificate" value="MIICmDCCAgECECCol67bggLewTagTia9h3MwDQYJKoZIhvcNAQECBQAwgYwxCzAJ
BgNVBAYTAlVTMRcwFQYDVQQKEw5WZXJpU2lnbiwgSW5jLjEwMC4GA1UECxMnRm9y
IFRlc3QgUHVycG9zZXMgT25seS4gIE5vIGFzc3VyYW5jZXMuMTIwMAYDVQQDEylW
ZXJpU2lnbiBUcmlhbCBTZWN1cmUgU2VydmVyIFRlc3QgUm9vdCBDQTAeFw0wNTAy
MDkwMDAwMDBaFw0yNTAyMDgyMzU5NTlaMIGMMQswCQYDVQQGEwJVUzEXMBUGA1UE

   </characteristic>
  </characteristic>
 </characteristic>
</wap-provisioningdoc>
Please don't use the above because it will fail. Just pay attention to the value and make sure you past the entire key in the "". Also, you need to insert the !!THUMBPRINTHERE!!. Refer to the MSDN page on how to access this.
