Live Streaming Channels Free, What do you use?

Looking for sites that offer live streaming video.

Are there any news stations that rebroadcast over the net like BBC seems to do?

Also is there a plugin to play winamp type streams, like at http://Grif.Tv

Looking for free sites, otherwise I may have to get Slingbox or Orb..

MobiTV is now available for the 6700 - it's not free, but for $10 per month, I think it's worth it.

I second this. Nothing like watching my Tivo, cable channels anywhere, anytime on my 6700. No recurring fee (ala Mobitv) is key.

Slingbox Quality? Controlability?
anybody have samples for our phone from slingbox, I have always thought about this item, but wanted to know speed, I know TIVO you have to download the whole file first.

I have a TIVO, and a PVR, I am trying orb tonight, if it sux, then SLingbox sounds good, Also can I use slingbox to send video from TIVO to another TIVO in the house, or PC in the house?

Thanks
newby on Slinger!

Will it control my TIVO? I dont watch at the time any show is on, as a matter a fact, even if a show is on I will watch a recording for the fun of it.

Another vote for Slingbox. Yeah Orb is free, but it can't come close to the features and ease of use of a Slingbox.

You bet. Controlling your Tivo, TV, DirecTV, Dish, whatever you have hooked into your Slingbox can be controlled just as if you were sitting on your couch holding the remote. The software has exact replicas of the remote and it's commands, so all you have to do is tap the function you want to use. I've even completed software updates on my Tivo and operated the networked features of Tivo from hundreds of miles away, all from my 6700!

Every time I demo Slingbox on my PPC 6700, people just can't believe it.

ericshmerick, I know you are not a spammer, or anything like that I have seen posts where people blame you for that, but your icon and your glowing sponcership is funny. You look like the juicer guy, or Oxyclean

I want to demo one sometime, is there a website I can goto to see the quality?

LOL, no, I am certainly not a spammer. I'm just a guy with a 6700 and a good deal of technical knowledge who posts his personal thoughts about PPC stuff to educate others. Honestly, I could care less if people view my posts as spam, becuase that is 100% inaccurate. I am a pharmaceutical sales rep who enjoys technology. I don't have any affilation to any website/company/product. My ringer post was the first time I have ever been called a spammer (and I post on many, many boards since the 1990's).

My avatar is Billy Mays, that clown who does all the infomercials ("Here's how to order!"). I use it because I find it hilarious. That guy is a riot.

Anyhow, I don't mind if you demo my Slingbox. Just PM me and we will get things set up. You will need to download the SlingMobile demo first, however. It will help if you are in a EVDO area, or using WiFi. It plays fine on 1x, but can be choppy at times.

If you want to demo someone's Slingbox, you don't have to buy anything. Just download the Sllingplayer Mobile trial (30 days).

Yes, there was a cutoff for the free SlingMobile player. Now it costs $29 I believe. I had a Slingbox prior to this deadline, so I got it free.

Think of it this way. MobiTV costs $10 month. Slingmobile involves a single fee to watch your Tivo/cable channels. Do the math over a few years. ...bargin comes to mind.
