Did you read the last post I just made (the one right before yours)? I just gave explicit instructions on how to locate the thread that states what each cab does.

Btw, earlier in this post I saw some questions about whether the "p" still worked in the voice mail phone number for auto dialing and entering your password. I just wanted to add my experience with this.

I was using this before the update: <phone-number>ppp#pp<password>pp

That still works for me after the update though I noticed that the delay per "p" might be a little bit longer as I noticed it didn't tell me to enter my password until my greeting was almost done, post update.

Don't know if that's true or not, but I modified my voice mail to be this after the update:

<phone-number>pp#pp<password>pp

...and that works great for me. Funny now that I look at it above, I have no idea why I put the last two "pp" in there...lol.

After messing around with this for a while, I discovered that this only happens with certain pin numbers. How funny, I bet it is a parsing, maybe an overflow problem. Based on the numbers that cause this I bet it is a parsing issue with a Little Endian problem??? Is this device Little Endian or Big Endian?

And it is not specific to a certain file or stream. It some times works and sometimes does not work. For me I get the black screen with audio more often then the video. To make it worse, ones you get the black screen it is hard to get the video back, unless you stop using the player for a while.

NOTE: WHen I say video I am talking about the video in the player not the regular windows graphics and UI.

For those of you wondering about A2DP:
The A2DP hack works great! Search this forum for more info on A2DP. My stereo Moto's sounds great. A tip, if you install it you may need to soft reset twice. On my first software reset after installing the hack I got intermittent audio. After soft resetting it again it all work good and I have had no problems with it.
I found a fix for this. It seems to only occur when Windows Media Player 10.2 Mobile is set to automatically detect connection speed. You can find this by going to Menu:Option:Network then deselect "Detect connection speed". It looks like when it tries to detect the speed it looses sync with the video. You will have to figure out what speed you are running at to get the best frame rate performance. There is a dropdown box above the checkbox that lets you choose your network speed for windows media player.

If possible…can anyone confirm for me specifically that if the updated ROM causes me any hassles (i.e. can’t get my bt headset to work) how I go back to the old ROM if it’s even possible?? I’ve seen some posts that seem to indicate a hard reset; however, other posts talk about doing a hard reset as part of the install. If at all possible I would prefer to have a method to revert back to the original ROM before I give it a shot.

I have the Jabra Jx10 and the website states that it isn’t compatible with the 6700; though, it’s worked fine so far. I’ve seen the post by Fuzzy suggesting after the new ROM is installed if you loose audio, that you should be able to press and hold the bluetooth button on your headset while the device is in the new key lock mode and audio will restore.

I’m also using SPB Backup if that can help me in any way.

Thanks,
Crys
A hard reset will not return you to the old ROM. Once you install the new ROM there is no going back, (unless you are a real tech junky and figure out how to reinstall your old ROM after backing it up) There are threads on this site for that.

Now for the BT question. I love the new and improved Blue Tooth. I used to have connection issues with it, and now I have none. I use a stereo set and I added the hack to enable that, but it sounds like yours in mono. Just remember after you pair it with your headset go back into your Bluetooth settings and refresh the available Bluetooth connections on your device. It usually requires this refresh to get the headset option if you wish to use your Bluetooth in place of your built in speaker for audio.

Here is the cool thing with the update, after you pair your device, when you click your connection (flash or hang-up) button on your earpiece, it routes all audio to your headset including the microphone and pulls up the new Voice Speed Dial that came with this device.

P.S. I called Audiovox tech support to see if they could tell me what prior version (or build) of Windows Media Player 10 was installed on the old Rom and they not one of their team members had a phone with the old ROM on it. So obviously they have decided to completely abandon supporting the old ROM and have moved on to this release. I say abandon lightly, I am sure you can get support, but if no body in their tech support has a phone with the old ROM on it, I am sure they are going to have a hard time reproducing issues related to the old ROM while they are talking to you on the phone.

I am having more frequent hangs since the upgrade. I had them every few days to a week before but now I get them daily or more than once a day. I have less stuff installed. I am careful to have nothing on the SD that might run when the device returns from sleep.

What is weird is that I am often in mail and the device is just locked with the screen on. This is a killer becuase unlike the DSOD it eats up the battery.

Ideas?

I noticed this too. One of the things with programs on SD that I noticed is that it's not just having to avoid leaving open programs on SD running, but even icons or shortcuts on the Today page causes instability. So for now, I have installed everything to main memory and looks to be running better.

Unfortunately, I still experience hangs at least once a day, usually when I have multiple calls or sms coming in at the same time. But at least with the new install and eliminating unnecessary programs, the restart doesn't take as long.

The new ROM is definitely worth the upgrade, but there are still some quirks, that can be worked around.

I also have that partition show up in Total Commander and the installer lets me install there but when I try to run the program I get an error that the application is missing component and to re-install. I've tried this with several applications included VxUtils which is a 'simple' app as well as apps I had in there before..
Ok, I fixed the extended ROM issue. I simply re-applied the cab, soft booted and got it working, now I have installed two programs successfully on that partition. In short, I lost nothing with the upgrade and have now a faster/more stable phone so while VZW took their time at least that got it mostly right.

update

I updated Tuesday...and so far everything seems to be running great. The new voice dial app is definitely NOT voicecommand...but it works well for what it is. I have not, however, been able to get it to work with BT yet. I'm using a motorola HS 820, and after pairing, when I press the blue button (that used to work with my OLD PHONE) nothing whatsoever happens - any ideas?
On the up side, the x (close) button actually seems to close now...can anyone verify this...or did i miss it in the thread.
Otherwise...no DSOD since the update..and it does seem to do a better job of memory mgmt.

The only time I've had a freeze-up with the lights on is when I was playing with Pocket Hack Master at 624Mhz. I presume you would have thought about that as a possible problem if it were applicable.

What was the killer for me on the old ROM were any today sceen plugins that report the battery level. I'm not sure if that's still a problem with the new ROM, because I just avoid them, and rely on the icon at the bottom to tell me where I'm at with battery. It's just something that hasn't been repeated very often, but disabling the battery level widgit in Resco Today plugin really cleared up my DSODs in the old ROM.

New ROM works great for me so far. I miss not seeing how much room is available on a device when installing programs, and the "new ringers" are just pointless, but otherwise A2DP (when I ever get a set of headphones that work), device lock, faster boot, longer battery life, PUSH EMAIL, and who knows how many bug fixes (almost no DSODs), I'm a happy guy.

I wonder if some of you think you are getting hung up, but really you are locking your phone. I noticed with the locking feature on the Today screen my phone is getting locked accidentally a lot. I also noticed that I do not necessarily have to be on the today screen for it to lock some times. Look on the left lower corner of your screens and see if there is an unlock command. Then press that to get your functionality back.

New Rom Won't allow workaround for sending to email addfress with text messaging?

The upgrade process went pretty well for me. The only major problem I have run into involves trying to use a workaround that DID work with the past Rom -In the past Rom, that the restriction in text messaging to not allow text messges to be sent to email addreses (only other cell phone numbers). This could still be done by entring "6245" in the "TO:" field, then placing the email address on the first line of the message and following the email address with a space. This worked every time! I just tried it under the new Rom, and it definitely does not work!

Does anyone now if Verizin has now locked us out of this option? Has anyone fiigured out a new workaround?

The Screen Lock <Really> Locks

Well, after a week of using the new rom, I have to say, the device is A LOT faster than it was with the old rom.

The only problem I'm having with the new rom is that I've noticed lately that at least once a day, the device locks up when the screen is locked. I've experimented with this for a couple of days. I've left it unlocked all day, and it seemed to be fine. But when I leave the screen locked for extended periods of time (like a couple of hours), the device locks up, and I have to reboot it.

I have noticed that when it does lock up there is usually some message on the screen like from Phone Alarm or something...so I don't think it is the screen lock itself that is locking up, but perhaps some app that is doing something that is causing the system to hang because the screen is locked. I can't confirm that, but that's what I suspect.

Didn't work on mine. Kept telling me that the update file was not vaild.

I've had it with SPrite. SPB Backup is what I will use from now on.

I got a weird problem after the update. The updating process was smooth and no problem was noticed. After it, I installed a few other softwares, Resco explorer, spb pocket plus. Then I start having problem. From some point, when I try to dial a number, it just shows dialing and no sound was coming out. I stopped that and dialed again. Then a notification came out saying that "phone failed". I did a soft reset and now it shows somthing like "the call can not be completer either because there is no signal or the phone number is not valid". I can not solve that until I hard reset.

I suspect spb pocket plus is the naughty one that cause this, but I can not prove. Does anyone have clue? The most frequent used function in spb pokcet plus is program switcher and close button. Without that, there is no convenient way I can find what program is running and thus have it closed. Any suggestion?

That is the same problem I had. I thought maybe the update file was bad, but I did have three different copies of it, and all three returned the same error. I thought it was just me and my device.

honglet, did you run the Verizon customization apps after the update, or did you do the soft reset before the Verizon customization programs ran?
EDIT: If I remember correctly, I had that error BEFORE I ran the Verizon customization apps. Seems like I tried to do the *228 updates first and got that error message

I would suspect one of the Verizon apps failed more than I would SPB Pocket Plus.

Bluetooth haywire since update

Ever since the new ROM, my bluetooth headset is loopy.

With voice dialing on, if I place a call from my BT headset using voice, it makes the call and then activates a 2nd time, requesting another voice tag. When that times out, the phone often--but not always--goes to speakerphone.

With or without voice dialing on, if I answer an incoming call from my BT headset the headset answers and then the call immediately switches to speakerphone--but the phone doesn't know this. Menu-->Turn Hands-free On puts it back to my BT headset. And Menu-->Turn Speakerphone On actually turns it off and puts the call on the internal speaker.

It's exasperating and makes the phone practically useless.
