I disagree. I've left my card in for numerous hard resets and the ROM upgrade. Saved me from having to reload tons of stuff to it. Not a single problem doing so ever.
Has anyone else noticed that the Registry key to rid Message Sent Notifications is no longer there?
The key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\SMS" does not exist.
It might be because I skipped the Verizon Customization after installing, but that was never a problem in the past... the Key/String were still there when I had done that before. Anyone else run into this problem?

it only makes sense that the verizon customization installs this key
i did the verizon customization and it was there for me
OK, this probably a 'just me' thing, but anything encoded with the Windows Media 9 encoder does not show video, only plays audio. Worked before What did I miss (probably forum post on the issue is my guess)
i got active sync to stop loadinging automatically, it was the network time thing for sure, but that whole thing where there is no icon for the programs that are installed on the memory card is a real drag...., i hope someone can figure out how to fix that cuz all my programs that display on the start menu are on the memory card and they all have that generic icon... doh!
I have had more hangs since the upgrade. I checked and I don't have the network time sync enabled. I know it isn't programs on my SD card, becuase I now this causes hangs. Disappointed that this isn't fixed.

You have to reinstall them - the start menu has no idea they're there until you do - sheureka

they were all reinstalled after the rom upgrade but the icons still dont show up in the menu, the link to the program does, but not the icon to distingush one from the next.
since the ROM upgrade I have had multiple episodes of having the device freeze when an incoming call was signaled. I cannot answer the phone call or remove the notification window without a reset ! Any thoughts about this?
I will make this as short and sweet as possible. It appears that a lot of people have done a LOT of great work here.
I am rolling out OMA for several clients with the VX6700 (as well as for my small IT comapny). The push feature is the main reason for this rollout. I certainly do not have the time to become a self educated PDA hack guru (did that with xbox's, directivos, and a half dozen other things and simply don't have that luxury this time around).
I would simply like to know (here, new thread, or in private)
1). Step by step plan for upgrade path with needed or recomended hacks (please don't flame, I am not asking how to plug in a usb cable or flash a phone.)
2). Exactly what "verizon customizations" are left out by doing the quick reset after upgrade (and does the phone need to be hard reset in a similar fashion before the upgrade).
3) Any other relavant information.
I would like to compile this is a step by step guide for future use (I have a dozen or so phones to do this week).
4) Will the techs at the store install the ROM update for you?
And lastly... will 6700s purchased from here on have the ROM pre installed.
I did not see something mentioned...
From my understanding the nice part about the server push is the fact that exchange can push a root cert (godaddy for example) without having to hard sync the phone onsite. So we can pass these out to remote users and they should have no problem with some of the "cheaper" certs.
Anyone else notice that a Voice Call does NOT interrupt a data call? Twice today I had a voicemail popup without the phone ringing (also no entry in the call log)?

Yes..I have had this happen...found a voice mail without the phone ever ringing and no entry in the call history from that person. That can definitely be a bad thing!
I had never noticed whether phone came thru while on a data call so i logged on to IE and was surfing and called my phone from a landline to check it out and the call came thru with out a hitch and the data line stayed connected.

Seconded...just fired up PIE and surfed to a site, and while it was loading the page I called my 6700 from my office landline. Came thru no prob.
I have noticed that since the upgrade my docked lock behavior has changed. Before upgrading, the password locking feature activated only when undocked and would allow uninterupted use of Pocket Controller.
Now, even when docked the timeout seems to kick in and lock the device. Very inconvenient! Anyone else seeing this?

Ditto. I did the update last night, skipped the Verizon hooha and I do not have that key either. I DO get a "message sent" popup.
There are two steps in the old instructions, one of which is to set the value (delivery ack) that is now "missing" from 1 to 0. Since not having the key at all does the same thing, I skipped that part, and only did the second part of the instructions (repeated here for completeness, but the original is in the "tips and tricks" sticky).
Navigate to:
\HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox
Create a key (folder) called "Settings"
Create a String value in "Settings" called "SMSNoSentMsg"
Set the value of that string to "1"
Worked for me!
