Whenever I stick my phone into the cradle the screen comes on after a few seconds and the phone syncs. Then the syncing finishes, but the screen never turns off.
I've tried that hack, creating a dummy server, etc., but I still have this problem.
Anyone know what to do, or how has this exact same problem?
umm. hold down the power button on the top of the phone until the screen shuts off (while its still on the base, of couse). then whenever you dock it, the screen will just stay off. *cough* hows that manual reading coming?
what he's saying is that he wants the screen to be on when he puts it in the cradle so it'll sync and then have the screen turn off after a timeout after it finishes syncing. In which case, just checking that one checkbox will solve the issue.
every few minutes my phones screen will turn on, and after a minute (which is what I programed it to do) it turns off. How do I keep the screen off, and do most people here just turn there phone off for the night instead of keeping it on with the backlight turned down?
I have read alot about this issue on this board. It seems to be when the ActiveSynch is trying to contact the phone. To me it isnt an issue since I have the equipment protection plan.
same issue here. My phone does this when cradled, and I don't even have the USB cable running to the computer. I've read it's the phone jumping in and out of 1X or EVDO, which I recall my last phone did all the time. Very annoying.
I have the cradle connected to the PC via usb. The 6700 keeps turning on while in the cradle like every 5 minutes or so, I even removed activesync on the pc and disabled the active sync task running on the phone. I just want to put my phone in the cradle to charge it, but it keeps coming on, its very annoying.
I seem to remember not having this issue before the ROM upgrade.

Hello. Just a friendly reminder to please remember to search before starting a new thread, it will really help me out a lot! Thanks
I didn't say it was. There were several explanations in this thread as to why the screen was turning on (EVDO/1X switching just happened to be the last one listed). My point is this thread was the appropriate place to post your question because it is the same problem all the other posters are dealing with. As evidenced by this thread, I think its obvious this problem has multiple causes. I believe there is also another similar thread if you want to search for it.
The only way to do this is (after you have cradled & synced) pres cntl + alt & delete on your pc, then click on the "Processes" tab highlight "wcescomm.exe" and click "end process".
This is the Activesync App that keeps talking to our phonews and waking them up. You backlight should stay off until you manually restart your Activesync Application.

Tried that, it still lights up every few minutes even with Active Synch disabled on the PC.
I would love to know the answer to this problem as well. I can confirm that my 6700 (ROM upgraded) turns itself on if charging (but not connected to a computer), if not charging, and with time synchronization on or off.
It's really quite a serious and basic problem (flaw) for such a cutting-edge phone.
