EVDO is great in the city, but when I'm out of evdo coverage and in an area with wifi, my 6700 still seems to want go through the cell connection instead of chooseing the faster wifi for web and other internet applications.
Is there an easy way to make it automaticly shoose the faster connection?
I'm no wifi expert, but when I'm connected via wifi link, my EV indicator is replaced with the wifi tower indicator and the phone automatically utilizes the wifi link.
Are you sure you're connected when it defaults to teh EVDO ?

I have the wifi connection going and the ev icon s replaced with the wifi icon, but when I load up explorer it still pops up the dialing 777 bubble and tried to get a celular signal. and doesn't download anything unless it can get a solid evdo signal it seems.
If I manualy disable the cell connection but have the wifi connection on, it doesn't even try to load anythign it just says no connection.
I'm getting very frustrated when cant load a web page at all and I know I have a strong wifi connection. Every timethe dialing bubble pops up then tells me no modem was found at 777 I want to trow my shiney new phone at the wall.

i think you have to manually go in comm manager and tap the wifi icon. i dont knwo of a way short of a reg hack that willl allow it to automatically connect. besides, you would not want the phone cheaking for wifi constantly because that will run your battery down fast.
once you see a wifi signal, as long as its not secured (requires a passkey to access) you should sign on in. if its a new network you have not used before, it will popup and tell you the SSID (if applicable) and if its secured or not. you cant access a secured network without the key.
The problem is that I have connected to the wireless... I manualy click the connect to wireless, I get the little wireless conected icon... but then it ignores it.
It is acting as though none of the applications is aware that it is connected to the wireless.
Very very very frustrated.

sounds to me like you're not waiting long enough for the wifi to connect. give it a few to detect the service. a bubble should pop up and ask what network you want to connect to if there are more than one present.
also in my experence when wifi is turned on the little tower symbol will kind of flash untill the connection is made. then the tower will be on solid.
good luck
I have the same problem. The only work around that I have found is I turn off the phone icon in wireless setup, then I open explorer or something to access the internet, then I can re-enable the phone, and it wil usually continue to use the wifi. If the connection goes idle too long, it will again try to use the dial up. I wish there was a better solution.
