iGuidance is probably the most popular with WM5 users, and iGuidance 3.0 is just being released - so it's going to have the latest maps. I really like the gui - take a look here - http://www.inavcorp.com/products/iguidance21_qtour.html. Go check out the forums at http://www.gpspassion.com too - everything you've ever wanted to know about gps. I've never used TomTom, but I know a lot of people have had problems setting it up with WM5. - sheureka (who just ordered the upgrade to iGuidance 3.0)
I purchased TomTom and returned it less than a week later and bought iGuidance. IMHO, TomTom was junk and iGuidance is awesome.
I've been using GPS software long before I bought TomTom. The software I had though was older and was incompatible with WM5. So I decided to try out TomTom because it got a lot of good reviews.
The problems I had with TomTom were.
1) The program is buggy. I had problems saving maps and that caused the program to crash constantly. I spent about 9 hours trying to get a few state maps installed on my device.
2) The software is not very accurate. Like I said I've been using GPS software for years on my Ipaq. I know what to expect from them. In my first test of using TomTom, it failed to direct me accurately to a Barnes & Noble that it found in it's own POI list. It failed to direct me correctly back to my 10 yr old house. In fact it directed me to the wrong house on the wrong street in my neighborhood.
3) The UI and the guidance commands are kludgy. The UI requires multiple screens and the commands are not very verbose.
I now have iGuidance and it is fantastic. I have nothing bad to say about it. I am chomping at the bit to get v3.0 because they are adding some new features and improving a good UI even more.
I just went through the same decision process....ended up buying iGuidance......it was a tough decision before the new version, but an easy one now with 3.0 (lucky timing). Double benefit in having Navteq maps (rather than TeleAtlas of Tom TOm) and now the most up to date one out there as it is a new release with new maps. The newer version also brings GUI and user friendliness on par or better than Tom Tom and you end up with the ability to use the same software version on multiple devices / platforms. Pretty easy decision until Tom Tom 6 comes out...then it will likely be a toss up again...
iGuidance wasn't reviewed Marty, IGO was. Anyway, iGuidance is much better, Tomtom is buggy and works worse with our phones.
Sorry, my mistake, just glanced over the title. For the record, TomTom works great on my 6700, not a single bug I have experienced after installing it (though I'm sure there are some just like with iGuidance). Sorry it didn't work well for you but when posting statements like these, try to keep in mind that just because it doesn't work well on your device doesn't mean it performs poorly on everyone else's (there could have been any number of issues that had nothing to do with the TT software). I think it is obvious that either one will suit the OP's needs just fine, no need to proclaim one is universally better than the other on the 6700 because that is simply not the case.

Just great, Shureka...another forum to spend more of my free time on j/k
I have iGuidance 2.x for my laptop, and if 3.0 is anything better, then I'd say go for iGuidance.
Shur - why don't u post a review once u use v3.0 on your ppc...i am relunctant to spend $$ on a bluetooth or usb receiver and MORE $$ on iGuidance 3.0 IF usability on the PPC6700 is sluggish like most other apps that on the PPC. PPC just sucks in this respect , sluggish running most apps, even native apps like the calendar, task, contacts...needs faster CPU and more memory IMO
iGuidance was unusable on my 6700. The screen refresh while driving was terrible. I also hated the iGuidance interface. Now I switch between Mapopolis and TomTom. TomTom is much smoother than iGuidance. The points of interest database in Mapopolis is better than TomTom.
I guess I should try out some other GPS software to see which I like, but I got TomTom since it was well known. It's worked great for me on the phone and I've not had a single bug.
I've used it in Washington, D.C. and the surrounding area. El Paso and Houston, TX. And Las Vegas. Works well in all places.
There are sometimes it takes me down roads that might be shorter theoretically but the traffic lights slow it down. Such is how it was in D.C. when I visited some family. They told me a quicker way back to my hotel than TomTom showed me. But I guess all software is going to be like that.

IMHO
so iGuidance 3.0 is sluggish on the 6700 and TomTom is not? I just got my first gps taste with a receiver hooked up to iguidance 2.xxx and microsoft Streets 2005 on my laptop. took a few trips and AM HOOKED to GPS'ing! My next step is go more portable and thinking about a standalone GPS unit (like Garmin, Magellan, etc.) or BT hookup to my PPC6700... I just am weary that GPS performance on the 6700 will be sluggish (like I said, if native apps run sluggish, how can a user reasonably expect the PPC to handle 3rd party apps any better???)...
I've been using iGuidance for more than a year - first on the 6600 and now on the 6700 - and I've never had any problems with it being sluggish! Rerouting is almost instant and I can plot a 1300-mile trip in less than 10 seconds - I don't see how anyone can say that's slow! - sheureka
I use TomTom on my 6700. Just picked it up a few weeks ago. Had some trouble setting it up with my GPS receiver, and a little trouble getting maps installed using TomTom's software. I'm sure that had something to do with the fact that i was trying to transfer a 40MB map onto a PDA with only13MB free! yeah, i'm good. Once i told it to install directly to my minisd, it worked great! Once i got the GPS set up the first time, i haven't had a single problem connecting. I do have some problems listening to MP3's on Windows Media Player, but that's probably media player's fault (anyone else hate that program?) I keep forgetting to put a new player on to try, but when i do i'll let you know how it works with that!
Anyway, bottom line: Had some trouble with setup, but once it was set up, works great!!
I use the GlobalSat BT-338 - and am amazed at the speed and sensitivity - I can sit in the middle of my living room and pick up 8 satellites - sheureka
