VeriChat - Only receiving every other message?

So this is a new problem as of today for me..

When Verichat goes into its 'standby' mode, I am only getting every other message sent to me. I started testing this and it is EXACTLY every other message. Is anyone else having this problem? It is only when it is in standby mode, and none of my other emails/texts/whatever are having problems.

This is specific ONLY to Verichat. I had planned on resetting my device in the next couple days anyways.. so I first tried reinstalling Verichat and a soft reset.. then I did a hard reset and installed Verichat again right away, and it still does the exact same thing, only every other message is received when in standby.

Or can anyone verify that Verichat is working 100% right now for them in standby mode?

Ok did some more testing.

3 Accounts total.

1 on the 6700. 2 on separate computers.

It is still exactly every other message. For example if I sent one from computer 1 then a message from computer 2 only the message from computer 2 goes through. If I sent another message computer 2 then a message from computer 1, only that message from computer 1 goes through. It is exactly every other message, regardless of who they are from.

ARGH

i just started using verichat and i have the same exact problem - the messages that are supposed to be sent in standby mode via SMS only come every other message...this is annoying.

Just turn off the standby mode, even always-on it uses VERY VERY little power, and works flawlessly I think I had to reinstall to turn off SMS mode.

It still beats the pants off of Agile, mostly due to the fact that you don't lose messages while on the phone.

you can't receive data while on the phone so unless you get a SMS, you won't get the messages...

also, sometimes i lose signal (subway, building, etc.) and would like to think that a SMS will be sent and i will receive it when i regain signal.

lastly, if i want to disconnect from vision to make sure a receive a call (if it switches to 1x while i'm connected and verichat is updating my buddy list, i won't receive calls) i would like to be alerted to IM's through SMS...

it sucks that it doesn't work properly.

I reported this problem to Pdaapps support back on May 4th. The bug surfaced immediately after the last Sprint ROM update. Their support group responded on the 5th with a "canned" message indicating they would look into it. Going on 3 months without a response or upgrade.

Don't hold your breath.

Sorry to have to break the news.

Sure you can, if you're in an EVDO area.

Verichat will deliver the messages as soon as your connection is back up, without the help of SMS. It stores them on its server.

Yes it does but it still works better than the competition

if you're on the phone you are not on EVDO - evdo is data only (hence the "DO") - once you receive a phone call it switches to 1x and while using 1x you cannot receive/send data.

if the message was delivered via SMS but not received by your phone, i doubt their servers will still send the message when your data connection resumes?

well just to be on the technical side it is possible to have ev-do active and a call at the same time.. just because its "data-only" doesnt mean you can't take calls... Just how you can surf with wifi(data-only, too!) while still on the phone...

even on the current "revision 0" of ev-do this is possible... the thing is the manufacturer needs to put an extra chip in it so most of them dont see a need for it (adding extra cost also) so they leave it out.

For verichat, ALL messages go thru their servers and everytime you get a message it seems like your phone sends a message to the server like "message received!" so when you are on a call your phone didnt send the OK to their servers so they are put on hold... when you come back they try to send it again.

I dunno why, but I don't have this problem with Verichat and double messages. Latest rom, latest version of Verichat (fully registered).

Not sure what is causing the difference in behavior.

wifi and evdo as "data only" are not synonymous...the data only portion of EVDO refers to a cellular network that cannot transmit voice calls (unless it's voip of course...)

whether or not it is technically possible with evdo rev0, i don't know - what i do know is that when you are on a phone call (with this phone, at least), even if you are in an EVDO area with an EVDO vision connection, you will not be able to send/receive data while on the phone call. if you try this, you will get a popup telling you to end the phone call first.

i don't think that verichat's servers work exactly the way you state either as i have lost a bunch of IM's due to being disconnected etc. it is quite buggy...and i still think if they send you a SMS, they assume you receive it.

malatesta: our problem is more like a half-received problem not a double problem, hehe.
