Question Cannot Sling over 225kbps with my 6700

Hey guys,
I've been posting here and there trying to create a buzz about the streaming rate of the slingmobile player on our 6700's. Some people claim that they can stream @ appox 500 kbps. I have yet to see this after tweaking all the settings in the options dialogue. Please help. There is no decent info on the slingcommunity forums either. I wonder what's capping my stream rate?
Thanks,
SanDiegoDude

It could be many things. One could be that your EVDO signal is not as strong as others. Another reason could be your ISP upload speed. You can also try tweaking the slingbox player settings instead of using the auto optimization.

Yeah, if your upload rate for your home broadband is not faster than 225 kbps, then you're not going to be able to Sling faster than that. Mine is 384kbps at home but most of the time the limit is my EVDO speed, which is normally around 150kbps.

Stream rate on 6700

I am getting about 200+ as well on EVDO using the phone. My EVDO data card gets 450-500 using my laptop. The question I have is why do you want more on the phone? I get very good picture quality at this data rate. I was actually looking to limit the stream to 200 on the phone hoping for a more reliable picture when traveling though cell sites.

I get 500-700 on the PC player using the same slingbox. I would agree that the higher data rate is very noticable on the PC.

If you didn't know already, there is a PC player update that includes a firmware upgrade. Maybe that will help.

Just my thoughts...Brad

Why wouldn't you want more? The higher the bitrate, the better the quality.

But if you want to limit it to 200 bitrate, you can always tweak it with the player's settings.

The issue I find most confusing about all of this is that when tethering to my laptop, I'm hitting over 600kbps but using the same phone/EVDO connection w the mobileplayer I can't break 225kbps. And yes, the missing kbps while streaming direct to the ppc does reduce performance greatly. If we could uncap the software, I think it would make a world of difference.

My upload speed for my home connection is 756 kbps and I have a strong EV-DO connection while at work and my speeds usually hover right at 200kbps when Slinging. It does jump up quite a bit in the evenings after 10 pm though. I've seen it go as high as 550kbps and it stays above 400kbps most of the night.

I just checked really quick and on my 6700 I'm getting anywhere from 10-18 fps and streaming anywhere from 190 to 225k. My connection at home has a 1 meg upload. I also have 3 bars of signal strength...

are you guys using the auto optimization? Try manually tweaking the settings. I think the optimization thing limited it to around 200 kbps.
