way to prevent iGuidance Bluetooth Timeout on 6700??
Hello All
Im pretty new to the whole bluetooth concept. I just bought a bluetooth gps unit and the iGuidance software. My problem is that the setup works fine until the 6700 screen turns off (and maybe off for a few munutes - from screen time-out) and upon going back into iGuidance I see the map isnt moving anymore. The gps is still sending a bluetooth prompt (25 min time-out) but the 6700's bluetooth has been automatically turned off. How can I stop this happening? I see nothing in settings.
Wouldnt this be a problem using a btooth headset as you would have to keep the screen on all day while anticipating calls.
I think the best way to keep this from happening is to use a holder and a car charger on the 6700 - you're going to be using up the battery pretty quickly if you have the program running all the time for a trip of any length. I'm lucky in that I have a van with four 12V outlets in the front (XM radio, 6700, BT338 and one left over to occasionally charge my laptop!) but I use a ProClip mount right over one of the outlets and it makes a pretty clean, easy to read installation. - sheureka
I have the iguidance software as well and also have this problem. I always plug mine in, so that's not a problem, but when I leave the car if I forget to close Iguidance before I turn off the phone it kills the bluetooth. I think it's a inav thing because my headset does not have this problem.

Thanks, but doesnt really address the issue. Having extra 12v outlets will not stop the iGuidance software from going into 'standby'. Plus, requiring a 12v permanent cable kind of kills the point of bluetooth in the first place...
I guess I don't understand the problem then - I've had mine on for 10 hours at a time when I was driving all day and it never went into standby. I have it set to not turn off on external power - sheureka
Yep, in settings you can tell the device not to go into suspend when it is on external power.
As an aside (and obviously not a solution if you've already purchased iguidance), TomTom automatically keeps the PPC on (backlight an all) while it is running... which is both a blessing and a curse, because sometimes you need to nav without a car charger (like if you happen to be in someone else's car), but also you need to be really careful about accidentally leaving it running, as it will drain your battery in no time.
Seems like it should be a selectable option in either program.
I put mine in the car cradle which is also a charger (seidio model). It never times out. I have never had this issue so I would recomend getting a seidio car charger and run iGuidance that way.

I don't have this problem w/ iGuidance as long as my PPC is in the charger. I've occasionally used it without being plugged in and still didn't have the issue. However, I use another app (Pitch Duo for powerpoint presentations) and see the same thing. The bluetooth connection drops after a minute or so. If anyone finds a way to turn this off, it'd be really helpful
You're right...I found a long thread on the issue at xda developer forums, but it looks like there are serious drawbacks in battery life primarily if you do the fix. I guess I'll wait until someone a lot smarter than me figures it out.
Say what? Your phones go into standby when using iguidance? My phone power settings are set to auto off, however, when in i guidance, my phone does not goto sleep. Regardless of external or internal power. The only time I lose my bluetooth connection is when I manually turn off the phone.
When I use the bluetooth GPS options and am out golfing (obviously not a power source nearby), I will adjust the power settings to not turn off when on battery power, but leave the screen settings to still turn off after 3 minutes. The screen goes dim, but the GPS stays good. This works fine for a round of golfing (4 hours or so), and I'm sure it would work fine for a mapping program as well. I am usually pretty low on battery at the end, though...
