Verizon Data Plan with SMS for Exchange - what is the Verizon code??
I read on this forum a few weeks ago about how you need to call Verizon and give them a special code in order to get 2000 SMS messages a month added to your data plan in order to get email from corporate exchange server.
Anybody know what that code is and who I call to order that plan?
Sorry, I've searched the forums and can't find the post again.
If you have the Verizon unlimited data plan you can call Verizon Wireless Data Support at 866-788-9387 and request that the "PDA SMS 2000 ALLOWANCE, code 70246" to be added to your Unlimited Data Plan.
In addition to providing a trigger for your SMS synchronization to initiate the ActiveSync process with your Exchange server, this feature will also allow you up to 2000 text messages per month with no additional charge.
You may want to act on this quickly because per that website we’ve heard that Verizon may not be willing to add this feature to an account after the AKU2 rom update has been released because it will no longer be necessary for synchronization.
A final note is that you must do a soft reset before the changes will take effect.
what about MMS, like pic message can i use the 2000 sms for it as well???
FWIW...
I haven't tried it myself but according to the information in the website listed above it looks like you can.
“The thread goes on to say that people .... used it for inbound and outbound messaging, and even used picture messaging (MMS) without incurring any additional charges. So, I say "use it - don't abuse it" and you should be just fine.“
I’d try it in a limited capacity first with just a few pictures to see if you get charged, and make your final determination at that point.
Just got it thanks. Call their PDA support and tell them your IT guy says you need it to connect to the Exchange server. The guy I talked to knew right away what I was talking about.
In my case I am using it for Exchange anyway, I just didnt use push becuase I didnt want to pay for SMS.
willp, I did as you stated and was able to speak with a competent rep this time around and got the 2000 messages. Thanks for the tip, you have been rep'd!
For anyone else who is interested in this..it is very easy to just shoot an email to data technical support asking them to add the PDA 2000 and give them the code...it worked for me almost immediately and you don't have to go through a bunch of people who are clueless.
