Moto HT820 - audio not being transferred to headphones after installing Pocket Player
Hey guys,
I couldn't seem to find anything on this, but I could have just been searching for the wrong thing.
I have a pair of Motorola HT 820s which I installed and paired with my xv6700 yesterday after installing the Tornado A2DP patch. Everything worked - but the sound quality with WMP was poor. Today, I decided to try to find a different media player with an equilizer and better sound quality. I installed Pocket Player, which had pretty good reviews. When I went to listen to music, however, it only comes out over the phone's speaker - I can't get it to play over the headphones any more, even using WMP instead of Pocket Player. Also note that the headset feature works fine, bluetooth is on, I've cycled the power on the headset, and yes, Stereo Headphones still show up in the headset's properties on the phone.
From what I understand, you will need an updated ROM in order for the current bluetooth stereo A2DP patch to work. That said, Verizon has not released their version of the ROM update yet.
Actually if the sound quality was that poor, I was guessing it was mono instead of stereo. You should be able to get the mono bluetooth audio working without the A2DP patch. Although, the sound quality is so bad that it's not worth it, IMHO.
Yeah, if you're on Verizon (which is still using the pre-AKU2.0 ROM) then the A2DP hack will not work. You were likely just using the audio gateway to play monaural sound through the headset (and since the HT820 has two "speakers" it does play through both of them--which is probably what fooled you).
If you press the main button on the HTs it should open that gateway and send sounds through the headset again. Otherwise try deleting and re-pairing them.
You will need to wait for VZW to issue an AKU2.X-based ROM to get the A2DP profile working.
Ack, I guess I completely didn't realize that. Wish I woulda known =\ Thanks, though... I guess I'm just one more person eagerly looking forward to the ROM patch. Too bad it's a dangerous process to try porting it from the sprint version, or I'd try it myself.
I currently push audio through my single ear headset to listen to some internet radio and occasionally mp3's while at work, but usually I just dig out my ipod for mp3. Someone here mentioned the clarity not being that great which clearly on a mono headset designed to be used for talking to people I can understand and experience. Once A2DP is enabled on the xv6700 will it be that much of an improvement in sound though? I haven't experienced the clarity as I don't know anyone with a device using the A2DP profile. I'm just trying to decide if this is something I should work up excitement over or just be used to carrying many devices around like I have.
