It's quite noticable for me. If i go to a screen other than the "today" screen, i have 2 dark lines where the normal white lines would be on the today screen.
I suppose my screen is always lit in the car, and after this long it burned in.
I haven't had my XV6700 long enough, but my last phone (Kyocera KX2) had a screen burn. It was very clear, but very noticeable only when turning the phone on/off.
from what i understand LCD screens can not fall victim to burn in. what i think you are seeing are stuck pixels (my observation, not a technical term) i noticed on other lcd devices that i have used that at times, usually when turning on or off it appear that the picture stays even when the device and back lighting is off. it usually clears on it own and is not a permantant "burn in" like on a plasma or CRT.

okay, that makes sense. I agree with everyone else, that I was under the impression that LCD's don't suffer from burn-in.
My Kyocera KX2 would only show a burn when turning the phone on/off, but it did seem like a burn.
Is there a solution to this? From what I understand, plasma tv burn is reduced by (from what I hear), flashing the screen with bright white light. Some tv's have it built in, where you turn it on to a setting, and the tv shows a bright white screen, for a short time, and supposedly burns the burn-in. I'm no expert though.
I have either a dead or stuck pixel. It's blue and in the upper right hand corner of my 6700. Is there any methods I can try to determine if it is dead vs stuck? it's annoying to see it everytime I load the camera or view any pictures with dark areas.

If it was dead, it would be...dead. No color, light, nothing. If it was stuck, it would at least show some color or light. As far as a fix, I don't think there is one for dead pixels. I'm not sure about stuck pixels though.
lcds don't suffer from screen burn as stated above. pixels do, however, get stuck sometimes when you turn the phone off but should disappear quickly (and i don't know how you could actually see them with the backlight off) - this is most notable when soft resetting the phone while it's on...you will see the pixels slowly fade away...after a soft reset you'll notice the the first thing that happens is the screen turns bright white (before you see the sprint logo) - i personally believe this is to flush out stuck pixels as stated above but can't be sure as i am not too familiar with the technical details/inner workings of lcds.
as far as dead pixels go...you are just out of luck - as with other lcds. computer monitors and tvs often have one or multiple dead pixels and most warrantees will not cover these unless it's over some number (ie. 10 dead pixel minimum for replacement) - it's really not a big deal but it can be annoying at times, for sure.
hopefully someone can provide a better "technical explanation" because i only am familiar with the basics...

Ok... what is my problem? I have my device set to turn onto a password, and I just noticed that I have a "ghost" of the password keys on dark backgrounds... I thought it looked like burn in and thought it might be because if the phone is in my pocket and turns on, it will always go to the password screen... The "ghost" password screen is defined enough that I can make out the numbers on the keys? Isn't this burn in? It really doesn't seem to be going away either....
I have some burn in too. I leave my PPC on in the cradle at work most of the time. I can see a ghost of my today screen background. Mostly it's the bright white spots of the picture that show up in the ghost. I only really notice it when I run this one program that starts out with a blank gray screen. It's not reducing any usability of any program, but it is noticable and makes me a bit concerned.

I'm having a similar problem...the white line above the Calendar/Contacts buttons leaves a mark when i'm in landscape mode. It's not horrible, but its certainly a bit annoying. I'm going to see if that, coupled with my tempermental vibrate function are enough to get a new phone.
