That's the error message I get anymore when I try to sync w/ my laptop. Does anyone have any possible suggestions, as this is highly annoying to get some key things synced. Currently running SBSH PocketBreeze and PocketWeather.


If I need to hard reset this, do I need the install disk, as I'm currently on the road.

what version of active sync do you have installed? that should be all you need.

Make sure you connect 6700 directly to USB port ... don't connect through a hub ... just for troublshooting sake.

Active Sync 4.1. This had worked since I had my phone and gone through the ROM upgrade, but 3-5 weeks ago, this started popping up. I connect through a USB cable only, no dock, and connect maybe 1-2 times during the day and then all night long (I travel heaviliy, so my computer is my ipso facto charger). Before it fluked into sync today, it had been 5 days since the last successful sync.

1. Unplug your XV6700 from the USB
2. Turn it off
3. Plug it back into the USB while it's turned off

Now it should sync. I have this very same issue. If my XV6700 is powered on, I get the error message. I just need to remember to plug it in while it's powered off.

You may need to try this a couple times.

Nope, that didn't get it. I've tried that numerous times w/o working on my spring phone.

Anyone else? Possible that I deleted a file on my device? Anything?

Go into Device manager and uninstall the unrecognized USB device and try my suggestion again.
