Question Backlight stays on during charging ...

Hello-

Just want to say how much I appreciate everyone on this site. Very helpful to us new users. I set the backlight under power to shutoff after 5 minutes of inactivity. Still stays on. Any suggestions...to get it to shutoff...Thanks.

What I do on mine is I hold the power button down until the backlight goes out. It will then stay off while on the charger until I repeat the same process to turn it back on. Without doing this the backlight constantly goes on/off all night while on the dock.

It goes on an off in the dock because it's syncing with your computer. Unplug the USB cable that goes to the computer so you're just charging with the power chord. Then your unit will not do the turn on, turn off thing.

if you kindly read your user manual you will find out how to accomplish this.

go into your settings tab and power tab then pay attention to the section that sets the backlight when on EXTERNAL power. yo uprobably have it set to stay on while on external power (thats what i do) and when you are on battery power you probabably set THAT to shut off after 5 minutes...

just doublecheck....

I doubt it. I have the same problem. The screen 'goes to sleep' and randomly lights back up all thru the day. Also you should not have to disconnect the USB cable just to kep the light off.

Only had my phone a few days, I love it but there are a few 'goofy' bugs in WM5!!

Do you have Activesync set up on a schedule? If so, it will periodically "wake" and attempt to synchronize based on your set schedule.

well reason i suggest this is i can turn my backlight off when on external power and it goes off. i like to keep it on so i set it to never turn off.

my post is valid which is why i asked that the settings be double checked...

That doesn't matter when it's plugged into the dock. I have all my scheduling set to manual and it still does it automatically when it's connected via USB, no matter what.

I have the same issue.... dern thing. I don't even have mine connect to the pc, its just in the cradle and plugged into the wall. It will be off when I go to bed, then all of sudden in the middle of the night, the backlight will turn on when a new email comes in and stay on until I shut it off manually. I have actually been sitting on the couch with the phone idled on the coffee table and have the backlight turn on randomly... no email, no sms, no wireless on..... just turns on.

I think it's a bug.... but that's just me.

Turn Off Screen While Charging??

My wife and I both have 6700s and at night we leave them in the charging cradles which are connected to a PC. It seems like despite having my 6700 set to turn off after 5min while connected to power, the device is always on! What am I doing wrong? I don't want my screen burning that much.
