UTStarcom 6700 Astronomers?

Astronomy has been a hobby since I was 5 years old. I remembered there being a thread for astronomers and interested folks in the 6600 forum. Thought it would be fun to have one here!

Here's an opening question: What software are you using with your 6700?

A few more:
Has anyone tried, TheSky Pocket Edition, from Bisque?
What are you using for low light reading on your 6700 (what today screens, backgrounds)?
Are you using the keyboard? If so, how? What are doing to make it usable at night?

PocketStars and TheSky Pocket Edition

Nothing special for low light reading, just the defaults. Turning on the program's "red" features" plus the 6700's lower backlight setting work fine. Unfortunately, neither program's red light feature does anything to the WM5 top task bar - it remains bright blue. That's why turning down the backlight is necessary.

DaleReeck,
Nice. The latest version of Tweaks2k2 .net lets you change the color of the top bar, as does Wisbar Advance. I prefer Tweaks2k2.

I have Vito's AstroNavigator installed - http://www.vitotechnology.com/en/pro...navigator.html - I'm certainly not an astronomer, but I thought it would be fun, and after spending all that money on a gps receiver I wanted some other things to do with it. I sit on my front porch and play with it on clear nights. - sheureka

Having a little boy helped me remember how much I loved astronomy as a kid. Pulled out my old telescope, showing him the stars. The moon is his favorite to look at, though.

Software question:
Does anyone know the .cab file for TheSky Pocket Edition?

I run TheSky Pocket, and Pocket Stars as well. I have been looking at the Starry Night Bluetooth adapter that controls RS232 telescopes like my LX200 10".

I usually use a laptop for astronomy, but using just the PPC 6700 would be nice for quick stuff.
