all BT headsets have static when 6700 in pocket - normal or need replacement 6700??

I went through about a dozen bt headsets and they all break up into static as soon as I put it in my pocket. Is this normal or should I get a replacement phone? I have had several other bt phones and this is by far the worst.
Thanks

Update ROM, if you haven't. Search for the Tornado-A2DP thread on this forum and install the larger Zip file on your device.

That should clear up the problem.

If it doesn't, you're skrued; if that doesn't fix it, it's hardware in your 6700.

Is there any large metal in the pocket - A riveted plaque on a wallet, A large keychain fob or chain, a pen, a flashlight etc. - in a close pocket or on the jacket itself? BT is a radio, so it might be ghosting or radio echo that's causing the problem, now that I thought of it.

Do a check on a different jacket, or empty it of everything else first. I found that a 6 inch long metal-bodied flashlight I carry was too close to mine and it caused the BT headset to sound like there was bacon frying when I put the phoine on my belt. I moved the flashlight and boo-yah!, the phone was crystal-clear.

Sorry about forgetting about that. It was about six months ago, so I didn't figure that it was important at first; thinking about it last night made me realize that it might not be a high-tech fix that is needed...

I have the same issue. If I put my phone on my desk and put my hand between my phone and my headset I get static. Tried 4 different headsets. The 6700 seems to have a line of site issue. I believe that is part of the difference between a CLASS A BT unit and the one in the 6700. I would like a much better BT unit in the next model to replace the 6700.

No metal near my phone - I don't use the carrying case so I leave that pocket empty so nothing scratches my screen. Keys / wallet are always on my other side. I'd have to have to take my chances with another (refurb?) phone and have the same problem.

I have noticed this to a small extent, when the phone and BT headset are on opposite sides of my body. The Plantronics Voyager 510 does work very well with this phone from my experience - and if you haven't already tried this BT unit, it might be worth taking a chance. I seems from my experience and that of several other posters that the 510 works well with the 6700 - and it is loud enough that you will need to turn it down, even with the old ROM (Verizon user here).

I can't say anything about the yellow logo phones but I support many of the red log 6700's and they all have that same issue with every type of headset I've tested so unless the yellow logo phones have a better BT unit, you're probably not going to see any improvement by trading in your phone.

I also have the Plantronics 510 and I can get a full room away from the 6700 and get reasonable good call quality. The 510 seems to have better reception and volume than most headsets.
