Do a search here or in Google for "Screen Protector"

Screenguardz

Give these a try, not perfect, (see below) but they cling by static and leave no residue.

They take a little time to position accurately, as they are cut very close, but the end results are worth it. They are cut for the 6700 (and others). http://www.screenguardz.com/

To answer your first question, there are probably more PDAs in use without screen protectors than with them, and I've met quite a few people without them who say their screens have never been damaged. I had a Treo 600 for about 2 years, kept it in my jeans pocket, dropped a few times, used the stylus like hell, went camping in the dusty woods, took it snowboarding, not a single scratch. Then dropped it one day and cracked the screen, which a protector would not have helped.

For some reason I decided to get a protector for my 6700 though, and I can't say enough about the pocketpctechs.com protectors. Kinda tricky to get one but invisible once you do.

I've been a PDA user for many years. Although modern screens are more resilient to scratching, they inevitably still do. I use the ClearTouch screens from PPCTech and I actually prefer the surface for writing.

Things device is far more resistant to scratches than an ipod. Its a tuff cookie. I have yet to put a screen protector on my device and it still looks good.
