any way for a notification when a birthday from contacts is near??

I was just wondering if there is a way to have the vx6700 notify you when a birthday is coming up other than creating an event or schedule. I have the birthdays programmed into the contact lists but I dont know if it will notify me when their BD comes up. It would just help keep me out of trouble! thanks

just add an appointment or event to your calendar on your 6700. then set the reminder (while you're adding the appointment/event on your 6700) to some amount of time--1 day, 7 days, whatever.

absolutely no need to download addtional software.

make sense??

Google for a today plugin called "Birthdays". I'm using it on my 6700 and love it. It reads the birthdate field from contacts and will display a reminder on the today screen for a preset duration prior to the birthday.

For example, on mine I have it setup to remind me 5 days prior to any birthday. When it hits that time, on the today screen it will display the person's name, what day their birthday is, and how old they are. BTW, it works for anniversaries too.

I'm not sure why this works, i wonder if it has to do with my using the microsoft outlook connector, but when i put the birthday/anniversary in the contacts fields, the next time i sync with my pc, the birthday appears as an allday event in my calendar. The annoying thing is the reminder is 5 mins, so it always alerts me at 11:45 pm the night before. But i'm going to see if i can set up a rule to change this reminder. Again, I don't know if this is something outlook does automatically, or if the msn service is doing when i sync with hotmail account using outlook.

Yeah, it's Outlook doing that. The other thing that annoys me about it is the Birthday appointment it creates on the Calendar is NOT set to private. Since we use Exchange/outlook at work, I really don't like everyone else being able to see when my friends/family's birthdays are.

You'd think there would be a way to adjust this or even disable it, but I dug around for a while and couldn't find anything.
