XV6700 Shuts Down when applying pressure to it
My XV6700 started acting up yesterday when I was walking to my office building. I heard my BT headset beep, looked at my phone and it had turned off. After tinkering with it for about an hour, I thought the battery had gone bad. I called Verizon CS explained my dilema, they directed me to a store, which did not have a battery. Went back to my office and noticed that with the battery removed the phone would try to turn itself on but when I would try to insert the battery it would shut down. After about an hour, I finally got the phone to stay on with the battery in place, but when I went to slide the keyboard out, the phone again shut off. I tried to recreate the scenario and was succesfull at about 2:50 AM EST, this time I purposely applied pressure to the phone and it shut down. I spoke with Verizon this morning and of course they have not heard about this as an issue, but they were sending me a brand new phone.
I cant figure out what would cuase that problem. I put the battery in the cradle and it charges fine, put it in my friends PPC6700 and it worked fine. All I can come up with is a short circuit of some sort. Never dropped, been wet, etc.
Edit:I have attached a picture of the back of the 6700 w/o the battery, The arrow pointing to a small copper part is what I think is cuasing the problem. It appears that when the battery makes contact with this piece, the unit turns off. I placed a piece of tape of the area of the battery that would be near that piece and so far the unit has not shut off no matter how much I press on it. Any ideas on what this is and/or what it does?
