After the new ROM update, I'm running into a situation occassionally where the phone app won't close. Has anyone else experienced this? Sometimes, after calling up the contacts and closing those, etc, I can get it to close, but other times I have to soft reset.

Yes, very common.

If you are using MagicButton, you should set the phone app to "keep alive" and "Don't show When inactive" it is not meant to be closed.. the ppc6700 is a phone after all. The phone app only tends to remain active as long as the OS thinks it needs to be there.
