Activesync window no longer appears on PC, but still syncs?

I thought I had seen it all with this program.... but after a PC crash the device syncs but the Activesync window does not appear on the PC. It is in the Taskbar both as a minimized window and an icon... I can sync from the icon pop-up menu.

I tried to fix by upgrading to 4.2 to no avail. Registry setting? Anyone seen this.

i had a problem where my activesync window was somewhere off my pc monitor...and i couldn't find it or move it back into view...meaing i could minimize, maximize, etc. and i'd never see it but everything was working fine.

i even tried a program that clears all the set locations of windows windows (yes that's what i said, lol) and it still didn't fix it.

bottom line? (for most activesync problems apparently) reinstall activesync. i know it's a pain but it works.

good luck,

-jeff

Yes, it will probably come to that. Piece of junk this software.

I had the same problem and reloaded 4.1 to make it work. Came back fine after that.

OK, will try that. I can reinstall after removing, but I have to look up how you can retain partnerships. I tried to install 4.2 over 4.1 and that did not work. I am afraid I have the full collection of installer versions....

Thanks

It's been a little while but I think that I overwrote the old install to try and retain the partnership but I'm pretty sure it overwrote it and I had to setup my options again.

I'd kill every trace of the 4.2 beta if I was you.

Good luck!

Well, I reinstalled the 4.2 and it found my old partnership so I am back up and running.

I wanted to see if the sync is any more reliable with 4.2 that 4.1. There has been an issue of transfering large files and my podcast software (Egress) has never workded because of that.

Anyway, thanks for the moral support and I guess I am back with the living.

I have had this problem- some how the registry settings get corrupted and the AS window thinks its somewhere off the screen- I can't remember the exact string that needs to be deleted but a quick google search should work- good luck
EDIT:
try deleting this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services
for a value called "WCESMGR Windowplacement".

That was a good idea and I looked through the registry settings before I reloaded the mess. One thing is that I have not lost any connections since I have 4.2 working. This may just be a fluke given the history of this program.
