Great experience with Sprint customer service and ROM update

So I decided to call customer support and get the scoop on the ROM update. I immediately asked for Advanced Technical support and after the 1st CSR simply put me back in the normal queue, the second CSR called the advanced group while I was on hold and conferenced me over.

The CSR at Advanced support was named Dawn, and she was incredible. Just so you all know, the official ROM update is available, it is on the sprint downloads page. You have to select the Windows CE OS (I don't know if this has been posted yet, but I figured I'd let everyone know because it wasn't readily apparent.)

She gave me my MSL, my MSID, and my MDN without any qualms. Mine were all different, btw, because I had ported my number from Verizon. She then gave me specific instructions on how to run the update, a direct phone number to Advanced Support in case I had a problem and bricked the phone (Holding the voice record button and another few sequences that has already been mentioned.) Lastly, she told me about the new features on the ROM from a list of notes she had.

When I asked her for a copy of the notes, she said she wasn't sure if they were proprietary. I told her I wanted to post them here and after a moment, she said that the notes were gleaned from this forum and even listed this forum as the official reference!

She was extremely knowledgeable, and I must say, a welcome change from the other CSR's I have dealt with in the past. She then set up my phone to be flagged for a PRL update the next time I called.

Overall, thoroughly happy. The update went okay, though it had an error communicating at first, right after it started the update (blanked the phone, thought it might have been bricked.) I took the phone out of the cradle and then replaced it after a moment. I ran the update again. Everything was great.

Initial impression...MUCH faster. Seems like battery life is better...not to mention, the direct push is great. I set up a mail2web account and have my other accounts forwarding there. Lastly, the synchronizations seem much much faster and I haven't had any errors like I did before (inserting blank contacts, taking upwards of 30 mins to sync 126 contacts.)

I love the new update as well. The voice dialer built in now works really well. Though I am going to give the VoiceDial trial a chance...I like the idea of being able to dial by number(s) and not just contact.

So far the sprint service is working very nicely.

You mean the first and only rom update, not a second update--correct?

I'm positive its the same ROM, though the CSR implied that there may be some releases of the ROM that hadn't been tested by them. I didn't really ask a lot about it.
