Question BT Audio Gateway not staying open long enough to hear commands aftr Alltel ROM upgrad

I have an Alltel unit with the Rom upgrade, MSVC, and the registry hack (2 Dwords, etc.) for bluetooth voice dialing. I am using the new Plantronics 645 DSP. When I push the multifunction button on the ear piece I get an immediate beep, then the tone of the gateway opening up, then two quick beeps and MSVC is working. I ususally have just enough time to say "Call (someone)" and then say "Yes" or "No". If it is "Yes", the phone will dial the number, and reopen the gateway and it works O.K. However, many times I can not get the name out quick enough and give the "Yes or No" commmand fast enough and the gateway will close.

Is there anyway to get the gateway to stay open longer? Or am I missing something here.

Thx,
Don

I had the same problem at first with my Plantronics 510...when I powered off the headset and reset my PPC everything worked fine after that.

I tried it but it did not solve the problem. I don't know of any adjustments on the bluetooth headset to make it stay open longer. It is really wierd. I was using a Moto with the old rom, but about the time I got the upgrade, the old Moto died and I upgraded to the Plantronics 645.

I am just using the builtin dialer also..there's another thread today discussing problems getting voice command and bluetooth working
http://www.pdaphonehome.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71932

Perhaps that will help...I don't have any experience with VC myself so I'm not sure if there are any settings you could tweak.

hmm... for me once the audio gateway is open it stays open unless I turn it off (by pressing and holding the button again) the only other way it closes is at the end of a phone call.

I can turn on the gateway, tell MSVC to play music and it does and I can listen to it with my headset. I don't know why yours doesn't operate the same way except that I have Verizon and therefore no ROM update.

found part of the problem

BTAGExtModule.dll vs. BTAGExt.dll

When I use the BTAGExtModule.dll the gateway will stay open to get the commands finished. It still has the same problem, if you don't finish a command or end a call.

When I use the BTAGExt.dll the gateway will not stay open long enough to always finish the commands. The gateway closes and the last of announcement will come out through the phone.

I wonder if this is specific to the Alltel Rom update. Looks like other vendor updates are not having this problem.

This is a problem after the AllTel ROM upgrade.

A Problem With Telus Too ...

I'm betting, since I have the same problem on a Telus 6700 that's had the ROM upgraded, that the problem relates to some setting that differs from the stock Cyberon voice setup and the one they rolled out ... perhaps reload the Cyberon and see.
