WHY when tethering slingbox , works so much better (vs viewing on 6700)??
WHY when tethering slingbox , works so much better?
The speeds are the same obviously , they are coming from my phone. even sporting events are clear. is there a way to tweak the mobile client to get the most out of the computer on my ppc6700 to get there results on the phone , right now my mobile client really isnt watchable. thanks in advance guys
Not sure what you mean by "not really watchable" but I assume you mean it stutters and is slow. In that case, try manually lowering the bitrate in the client. By default, the transfer bitrate is maximum available, usually around 600K over EVDO on average - too much data for an EVDO to PocketPC connection IMO. I forced it to 200K and it works great - no stops or stutters and the quality is decent too. Plus, you aren't as likely to raise a red flag with your data provider if you stream at 200K than you will at 600K.
I PAY FOR UNLIMITED DATA , THE ONLY RED FLAG I WILL BE RASING when i pay for unlimited it the red flag of my contract aggrement with them . lol
as for the bitrate on the client it is set to auto , so it changes to make the picture as smooth as it can be.
the picture doest stutter in portrait , but the quality is not acceptable either , but on the laptop perfect for veiwing , this is a mobile client issue or is it a ppc6700 hardware issue?
I wish I could be of more help to you here and tell you I found the 'perfect' settings for you, but I have not touched my settings. The way they were by default when I installed the software is how they are now and I honestly am impressed with the quality. I am not talking about watching the news either. The only reason I have the slingbox is for sports when I cant be home. I have been watching the NHL and NBA playoffs on this phone these last couple weeks. As for NBA it really is quite clear and enjoyable to watch. The NHL games may be a bit 'blurred' at times, but nothing bad enough for me to complain about. The only time I notice it being tough to watch is when it first starts up and is optimizing. Now I wont go so far as to say there is NEVER a stutter etc, but once it is done optimizing it really runs pretty smooth. So no I dont think its a hardware issue. I still just wish there was some setting I found that could answer your problem for you
thanks have you tried to hook it up to your cable box, i have a scientic atlanta explorer 4200 cable box. when the cable feed is hook directly up to my box i have no issues with slinging the acual feed to from my sling box , but when i feed it from the cablebox itself , i get no picture , just snow on my ppc6700 , doesnt make sense to me . anyone know my answer? ps,, i have tried the s-video aswell.
Didn't we determine that this was something peculiar with your slingbox setup?
Seems like you were fast when connecting to my slingbox...

btw - i might have a solution for you.. Is your router fragmenting your IP packets?
I bought a dlink router recently which fragmented my ip packets to speed up gaming/etc.. it was totally killing my slingbox performance from the ppc.. worked fine from desktop though.
