cannot Play Vonage wav voicemail files w/ Windows Media player on 6700

I have my voicemail sent to my email as a wav file from Vonage. I can play them fine on the pc however when i try to do this on the Sprint PPC6700 i get an error about the file type. This is using the standard Windows media that comes with the phone. Anybody can help? Is this a windows media problem. Can i get a replacement. It would be awesome to not have to check the voicemail manually and just be able to play the attachment that vonage sends me.

thanks

I have the same problem. I used to be able to do this on my 6600, so I'm not sure what is different...

Send a message via AIM to Caust

Possibly Audio Codecs?
Just a thought.

You guys need (2) items. The first is a media player called TCPMP as windows media player doesn't decode the wav file correctly. Second, you need to get Resco file explorer so that you can change the default wav file player (Windows Media) to TCPMP player. You would perform this step as you would on a windows xp machine. ie, open resco file explorer and browse to a .wav file. Then, hold down the stylus on the file and select "open" and then "open with" and browse to the TCPMP application. At the bottom of the screen you will see a box "Always use this program to open up this file type" and check it. From now on you will be able to open the .wav with TCPMP and it will play just fine. Good luck!

I agree with using TCPMP, but it should be possible to play the .wav files from TCPMP without using a program like Resco File Explorer. Once the TCPMP application is loaded, you can change the file associations within TCPMP to include .wav (called Windows waveform) files. You would get there within TCPMP by going to:

Options
Settings
Select Page
File Associations
Check the box in front of Windows waveform

If this works, when you click on the .wav file it should play in TCPMP. If it doesn't, then another codec is probably needed.
