how can I tell if my XV6700 is roaming or not??

I follow the instructions in the sticky:
Today Screen Wireless

This will show if you are on your home network or roaming, also it will show if your WiFi & bluetooth is On/Off. Very cool hack, thanks to that_kid for posting this over at pdaphonehome.com

Click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Click SOFTWARE
Click Microsoft
Click Today
Click Items
Click "Wireless"

Thier will be nothing in this folder to start!

But on my new xv6700, it doesn't work. I really want to know if my cell phone is on roaming or not. Please help. Thanks.

From what I understand, this registry tweak only works with Sprint's updated 2.06.00 WWE ROM.

Add and or change the following items under:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Today\Items\"Wireless"]

"Flags"=dword:00000000
"Options"=dword:00000000
"DLL"="netui.dll"
"Order"=dword:00000000
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
"Type"=dword:00000004

Do not forget to soft reset.

BTW, no quotes are needed to add the new DWORD's and values. Please also note that this tweak takes up two lines of valuable today screen space. Nonetheless, it does show your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth On or Off status, as well as your "connected to" SSID. Unfortunately, the plug-in does not allow you to actually turn on of off your wireless networks. Anyway, due to today screen space issues, I removed it strait away, lol...

Hope this helps,
R

Thanks a lot.
So is there any easy way to know if the cell phone is in roaming or not?

honglet,

This registry tweak is just for your Sprint updated ROM Wi-Fi and bluetooth status, and does not help with roaming notifications. From what I recall, the phone should tell you everytime if it's roaming without any modifications. We are getting off topic, but you should be able to set your phone to allow roaming or to just use your provider's network. Well, this at least works with Sprint... not sure about Verizon.

Best to all,
R

honglet, now that you changed the topic title, I think I can point you in the right direction. Click on your green hard call button, click the menu at the bottom right, click options, click the services tab, highlight roaming, and click get settings. It will show you different setting choices. If you do not want to pay roaming costs, select Verizon only. Again, if you select Automatic, your phone should display a roaming notification when you are about to make a call while roaming.

Thank mods to change the title for me.

Rhacy, I don't see roaming in the list in services tab. What I have now are Location Setting, Voice Privacy, Network Service, TTY mode, Alerts. So weird.

honglet, have you tried to highlight "Network Service" and then click get settings? It sounds like it will take you to your network settings for roaming, automatic, or network only. I do not have access to a Verizon 6700 or I'd check it for you.

Best to all,
R
