USB/Bluetooth speakerphone capability?
I've searched a bit for this and have found little, if anything, that seems to do what I'm aiming at.
I have a Gateway Tablet PC, and an XV6700.
On occasion I take the whole setup with me travelling. I usually attach the phone in some way to the tablet, and plug in the usb cable and run remote display control as the phone is usually out of my view. I tend to send the computer's audio output to any available local source, usually the stereo in my car. I am aiming at making the tablet and phone a single effective hive mind unit. When they're connected, I don't see why I would use the phone's hardware resources for much.
Now here's a dumb question - Since the XV has a speakerphone, and it can output to a bluetooth car kit, is there any way at all in which I can reroute that into the computer, and then out to the stereo, without actually connecting another cable? If remote display control can actually output the screen contents via the pseudo-LAN connection it makes through the USB, it seems reasonable to expect it to be able to send the audio. An extension of this concept - can my tablet use the camera inside the XV as a live capture/video conference type thing?
I'm looking for a piece of software that does what a bluetooth car kit does, essentially, through either the USB connection that is made to the computer or it's bluetooth radio. My thinking is since I've already got it connected to the tablet and have RDC running on the screen, the next step is to get the audio out of the phone and into the rest of the system. Sitting at my computer, I've got these beautiful and loud studio monitors for all audio, and the XV sitting in the cradle lookin' beautius next to it, and all control by pen/touch screen, but when a call comes in I have to shut off the speakers and strain to hear that small-ass speaker in the phone. Also, the one thing I miss about this system is if, for example, I'm using the computer's media player to listen to stuff, the phone calls coming through don't mute the computer audio.
I am trying to make it such that I require absolutely no other interfaces than my tablet screen when connected to the phone, the Tablet has a far superior speaker set and microphone, and i can zoom RDC so it's easier on the eyes. And in the car the tablet runs through the stereo anyhow. Running an extra bluetooth kit just to get the sound and control of the phone seems cost ineffective and redundant, considering that I've already got access to it through the laptop mounted to the seat next to me (it's an old cruiser, mounting a computer seemed appropriate).
I know that to solve it I can just use the XV in the car exclusively, limiting me to the smaller screen but it would be the single thing connected to the stereo, making speakerphone and media players work well. I've also considered rigging up a small mixer to run both lines of audio into my stereo. Still lose the "media player pause" feature this way. Maybe even just rig up a software event?
I've rambled enough. I figured I'd throw the idea out there and see if I don't get kicked outta here for it. I'll rant more if it picks up some response.
