Sounds like one of the "grey areas" for data usage. If Sprint (my provider) ever said anything, I'd respond 'fine, I'll just sling via EVDO/1x 18 hrs a day (from my phone). Fine with me.

I use over a gig a month just watching my Slingbox. That's why I pay for UNLIMITED data. Teathering should be no different.

I agree, now we have to get Sprint to think that way.

I guess this topic will bring out those who will say using too much data is abusing the service. I do agree that abuse of any data service is not a good idea, but if you teather your PPC to your PC to use web/slingbox/music all you are really doing is using the data connection to display on a larger screen. What's the harm in that?

Now if you are hosting your friggin website using the phone's data connection, I agree the service provider should do something about it, but not for using services that essentially require unlimited data (slingbox, XM/Sirius, etc).

I say do it until they say something. Then explain to them you are using an application that was designed for the phone. A similar topic came up over on tc.com...people were getting letters from Sprint concerning their high data usage...all they told them was they were using Pocket Tunes/MobiTV to stream radio stations. Sprint then left them alone.
