Unhappy whenever I soft rest the device, the windows default sound plays every 20-30 seconds

I apologize if I am mistakenly starting a new thread and if I should have posted this elsewhere - I am new to this valuable discussion board and I don't quite understand all of the ins and outs, but I need help. I have owned an XV 6700 for 4 months. I used tehe wake up alarm function for the first time one morning last week while traveling, and used the Windows default sound to wake me. That wokred, but ever since then, whenever I soft rest the device, the windows default sound plays every 20-30 seconds. There is no way to turn it off except to silence all sounds for alarms, program notifications, etc. I have checked the startup filder and there does not seem to be any alarm or notification set anywhere in there. The sound eventually turns itself off, but all by itself. I have no way to control it and I am lost fior solutions.

Help!

All the best!

I started having the exact same problem after performing a restore using Sprite 5.1. Version 5.1 is still full of bugs and Sprite acknowledges this but has not issued a new version for it.

I also have had the same problem. Been searching for a solution for the longest time and I found this thread where you guys are having the problem. Thought it was voice command starting up but deleted that shortcut with no effect. Since there hasn't been any fix posted to this thread since April I guess the only way is a hard reset and never use the alarm function on this phone again.

Try This:

Start > Settings > Phone > Services > Alert > Get Settings... > Disable "Service Acquire and Lost Tone"

Same exact circumstances as OP.

Checking BetaMan's fix, Service Acquire and Lost Tone was already disabled on my phone. Any other ideas?

I had this problem ages ago and it all came down too the Notifications.

Specifically I had reminder notifications that could not be resolved/dismissed. I would only hear them when rebooting/soft reset. Nothing would show visually when the sounds were playing.

I would try running Scary Bears, Check Notifcations program.

How many total events does it find on your PPC?

Or if you have MemMaid have it scan for "Duplicate notifcations" and "Dangling Notifications"

If all this fails, I did see a post where you could manually remove a certain type of event with Check Notifications software ... cleaning them all out would resolve the problem ... I will try to find that link.

Got an error trying to load Scarybears, said it wasn't a valid Windows Mobile app.

Have you guys tried a soft reset to fix the problem?

Sorry, I had to do it

Here's the link for Check Notifications: http://www.scarybearsoftware.com/checknotifications.zip

VERY valuable program!

EDIT: Remember to go into Options, Settings in the program and check the 2 check boxes in there. Then hit clear to clear out the notifications.
