New Sprite Backup 5.1 Build -- just released!

Check out:
http://www.spritesoftware.com/forum/...er=asc&start=0

The new version does executable backups now and also has an option to back up everything you've got and reinstall it over a new rom upgrade. Which should save hours and hours of tedium.

I haven't tried the upgrade feature since Qwest hasn't come through with new roms yet. But I uninstalled the old 5.0 and installed the new build in minutes and it worked perfectly, delivering a new backup for my whole 6700 and storage card in just over ONE minute (not counting resets).

Makes Sprite a contender again, IMHO.

Hmmm...
I don't understand what the $15 is all about. I bought 5.0 last December and my upgrade to 5.1 was free. I had to give them the authorization number from the older version just before I downloaded the new one. And that was it! When I opened up 5.1, it was automatically registered in my name.

I installed the new Update 5.1 and was very disappointed. I have a 4 digit PIN at startup on the Sprint PPC-6700 and that seem to cause Sprite 5.1 to lockup the PPC-6700 with AKU 2.06 installed. Within 2 hours of installing Sprite 5.1 I had to do a Hard Reset to get my PPC-6700 working again. I sent Sprite Technical Support an email with the problem and it took them over 2 days to reply without any helpful suggestions. Has anyone on else with AKU 2.06 installed had a similar problem? Could it possibly be a third party software application I have installed? I have Resco Explorer installed and a few other less popular third party applications.

Regarding your ROM..

Since Qwest is simply Sprint's network.. is it possible to just use Sprint's ROM update?

If you already have Sprite Backup 5.0 for a WM5 device, then you use the upgrade from 5.0 to 5.1 option and enter your activation code that was given to you. You'll be in like flynn.

Check Search for more on this. But, in a word, No.

For some reason my automatic backups aren't happening with 5.1. The phone locks up and I end up having to soft reset it in the AM. Oh well, may have to go back to 5.0.

Thanks for the heads up! I bought Sprite upgrade for version 5 and HATED it!
Switched to Spb Backup and have been using it with no problems, so far...

Downloaded this since I already paid for it. Might as well give it another try...

I've used Sprite for years on miscellaneous PDA's and never had problems until this latest version. I always get errors on my backups and trying to backup to my PC was pretty much of a disaster. I just downloaded SPB and am going to check it out for the first time. - sheureka
