any app to encrypt internet connection/http stream??

Ok, i have looked, and have not really found quite what i want. I have tried a couple encryption programs on the 6700, but they are basically password protection or encryption of programs/files. That's a start, but i'm really looking for something which will encrpt my internet connection, preferably thr GPRS connection over Sprint's data network. Call me paranoid if you will, but i really don't want Sprint to have a data log of either VPN passwords or RDP password when i terminal into a work or home computer. Ditto from ftp.

Now, PocketPutty or PocketSSH are both great for what they do.. but rather then encrypting a terminal session, i want to encrpt the http stream.. Short of VPNing to a solid box and then using it as a proxy for web, i haven't found a solution.. even then, that's pretty kludgy.

Any suggestions/thoughts? Searches for various field queries have not yielded appropriate results.

ssh tunnel

pocketssh supports ssh tunnel

Set up a proxy on your local computer and all the data will be encrypted.

You shouldn't be using ftp at all if you want security. Ftp passwords are sent in clear text. It's amazing how easy it is to grab ftp passwords if you are in the loop. Try sftp or scp.

VPN passwords should be encrypted when they leave the device. Pretty sure the same with RDP. Not much sends passwords in plain text these days - now that telnet and ftp have been ruled out for security reasons at most places. I don't really get the point - except for local stuff (which you would already run through an encrypted vpn), any internet stuff is going to go from your proxy unencrypted. Ftp is the only one you would worry about - and then you shouldn't be using ftp except through a VPN anyways.

So in the end, I'd take you up on your offer and call you paranoid. Or paranoid about the wrong stuff - get rid of that insecure FTP server!

Also, Sprint uses 1x or EVDO, not GPRS.
