WM5 successor Crossbow announced... able to port to XV6700?

Crossbow, the successor the WM5 was very recently announced, and is due early 2007. Would the XV6700 be upgradable? Or is some phone software proprietary on this device...

You won't see that for probably 2 years at which point there will be a far better device than the 6700. Also providers much provide the updates in the end and if they are not interested in maintaing a 2+ year old phone they will not bother.

That's right. The 5 month testing period for Sprint to test and approve WM5 was actually pretty quick. The norm is the roughly 8 months that it took Verizon to test and approve it.

It will also depend on the product cycle for HTC (or another mfg) to make a device that's compatable. It'll be damn near '08 before we see a converged device running "crossbow". (WM7?)
