cannot connect to my WAP-secured network (6700 rejects key)
Hey guys:
Trying to get my 6700 to connect to my home WLAN network and am stuck. It connects to unsecured LANs fine, but mine is WAP-secured and when it asks for the key and I input it, it tells me the key is incorrect. This is the case no matter which of my four keys I use, and I know the keys work because my laptop works. So ... any ideas?
A couple of things I noticed on connecting to my WPA LAN at home. Make sure you have the correct encryption type selected on the 6700 so it is matching your wireless LAN. Also, the 6700 seems to only work with WPA passwords of around 20 characters - so if you have a longer password (which WPA supports), the 6700 will seemingly accept it, but not work. I found that info on a thread on this forum, and it fixed the problem for me.

Thanks for the input! I tried selecting different encryption types (WPA, etc) and made sure the key was less than 20 chars., but I'm still not connecting to my home LAN. I'm sure the key is right -- it's the one I use for my home PC. There are three other keys I have as well, none of which work. The 6700 either says "incorrect key," or it tries connecting to my home network and then gives up without an explanation.
I had this same issue for a long time (home network is WPA-PSK) ... what i finally ended up doing was a hard reset. I also made sure my password was under 20 chars... What I think my problem was was that I had some aftermarket programs installed that changed some setting somewhere that I didn't know about that would not let me connect.
I also could connect at hotels etc... to unsecured networks, buy at home I was stumped. I know this is an extreme option, but it worked for me. Maybe try hard reset as a last option ( like I did )
Good Luck.

I don't get it.
Make sure your Wireless Access Point has 802.11b enabled - as that is all the phone has. If you have your access point set to 'g' only, it will discover the access point and try to connect, but fail - without giving you any errors to help you debug the problem. So set our access point to either 'b' or 'mixed' and see if that works.

Very good point... this has happened to me as well.
