ETen Dialer w/skins - Works in Portrait & Landscape. No smartdial.
With respect to Kokkos and the tremendous amount of work he's done with his skins and themes, I hope anyone interested in skin dialing and having a larger dialer keypad, incoming call skinning, portrait and landscape support, will check out this thread. Works on my xv6700.
All credit goes to Jackroe007 for these pics and instructions. The original post can be found over at Howard Forums, reposted here for convenience, and because i think everyone should check this out. Here is an example of the default skins provided by Pauly:
*****************Brief intro*****************
I've played around with a bunch of different dialers and the E-Ten original is my favorite, with lots of nice polished looking skins to choose from. The only drawback is that the smartdialer (the small drop-down list of phone numbers as you're dialing) is non-existent. Personally, I haven't missed it at all. The combination of having voice command and the much bigger keypad of this dialer far outweighs the negative of no smartdial. Plus, it works beautifully in portrait and landscape. I downloaded the gray skin and it's really sweet looking and a nice compliment to the black today theme+Vista_lite theme for Wisbar Advance, but all the colors are nice and polished and should fit your today theme of choice. The changes to the in call layout are also a huge plus IMO. The keypad also seems more responsive too, as others have confirmed. Anyway, check it out, and while you're results may vary, I've been able to uninstall this dialer and try others without issue. Many kudos to Jakaroe808 over at HoFo and other who worked on this. Check ou this site at www.paulya.com These skins will be updated and added as available.~Chris
************Installation Instructions (reposted from HOFO)************
Here is how you do it..
You will need the Eton Phone Dialer .cab file and install it on your Phone. This install will change the layout of the keys and active touchable areas on the screen. This will also replace your default Microsoft keypad, so be warned. Please read the notice at the bottom of this post.
Download the .cab to your computer and place it on your device with you PC's browser. Once there, use your Pocket PCs File Explorer to navigate to it. Run the cab and install to your Device Memory. The Eten Dialer install comes with a nice blue skin, but if you want to use mine, you'll have to download it here or below.
Once you have zip file of the skins you want on your computer, unzip it and drop all the contents (BMP Image Files) into the "\Windows" folder on your device. It will prompt you with the question: "Would you like to replace the existing file?". Click "yes to all".
Soft reset your device and enjoy.

Please do this at your own risk. I have followed these steps with my xv6700 & 8125 and have had no problems, but I can not guarantee that you wont.

Reason: Update to be a proper 1st post in thread
Great find - emailmyers. It works great for me (I installed and un-installed to replace again with kokos' skin than put this one back on again). I love the huge buttons, "the bigger the better" IMO. Thanks for the post. I have attached a couple of pictures of the rendering on the ppc-6700...perfection at its finest!!
ciao
p.s. the grey skin is much more pixelated then the classic look, I'm not personnally a fan...
Thanks emailmyers,
I have tried the kokko dialer for a few weeks now and although I liked it a little better then the dialer that came with the phone....anyway.
I just uninstalled the kokko one and installed the E-Ten you linked to. NOW this is what I was looking for. It is so clean and I agree that seems to be a bit more responsive. Now to try all the skins available for it and pick a favorite color
Thanks again
edit: papawharfrat - I dont see any hidden agenda, but if there was one I didnt sense it. I do know that his post has helped 2 of us so far, so his post was useful. As for apples to apples, in my opinion it is. The smart dialer is an option withing the dialer, and some of us had little use for it anyway. I never used the smartdialer so it I wont miss it. I love the dialer he posted.
Gillz, i can tell you because I have the same one. The top and bottom menu bars are the vista-lite theme for wisbar advance, found over in the lakeridge skins forums. Keep in mind you need to have Wisbar installed first before being able to use it though. Here's a link to the skins section over at lakeridge: http://lakeridgesoftware.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3435
I'm glad their are those who appreciate the Eten. No affiliations, no agenda, just letting people know about alternatives I discovered after much searching.
Right on Kokkos, it's all about choice and personal preference. You've been a driving force behind the dialer skinning for me, so thank you!
I have the xv6700 and have had success uninstalling and reinstalling the eten from my previous post but results will vary. There are definitely other versions floating around (e.g. the Eten w/smartdialer-portrait only), so be aware.
For those who are interested in seeing i posted 2 pics of my look. The grey, as payner mentioned, isn't perfectly polished like some others, but i'm going to work on it a bit to see what i can come up with. Regards all.

Search for Smart Dialer on Google. Seach for "Phone skins for the PPC" on Google. Google turns up a lot of information.
thanks for the reply. I have been searching that way, and it seems to bring up so many skins that don't support the smart dialer, i just getting tired of searching after 3 days. LOL. But thanks for the reply, and I might just be tempted to check out the ETEN, even though I use the smart dialer sometimes...

P.S.: Make sure you install the background by clicking and holding on it from your Pictures & Videos app and selecting "Set as today background" and making the transparency 0%. If you don't do it this way the image will be grayed-out on the Today Screen.
i know some of these threads are old but i finally tracked them down last night LOL. Thanks for the new thread on this!!! the kokkos and new eten skin dialer threads were starting to get mighty long.... The lime skin is awesome
True, I'm being ignorant saying its useless to EVERYONE, but I think dialing from contacts is more common than manual number dialing. Just wish I could have the best of both worlds.....

My question is, how do you use the smart dialer in the first place? I have it on my phone and dissabled it. After 3 keys the list is so long it covers the keypad making it impossible to key dialing.
'SMART Dialing' is not that useful if u have more than 100 contacts.. So its not much use for most ppl.
The way it works is you need to know the contact number, so when you dial each digit, the 'smartdialing' feature will filter out all numbers and would list all numbers matching the digits you entered. If you have like 100 contacts, its hard to remember the number to dial, so most ppl just dial via Contacts screen or even simpler M$ VoiceCommand.
Actually, you can spell the contact name with the letters on the number keys to filter through contacts. Still, I never used it and eventually found it to be annoying.
I installed the app and it came up with the default light blue. Then I tried to copy over the red and it came out 30% blue/70% red. What's up with that?
